Franco Vazquez Posted March 9, 2021 Posted March 9, 2021 Is mental health the most effective card in the west? I have noticed that in the West, using mental health is something which can make you get away with anything really. Like if you want a break from job, if you want to move somewhere else, if you want to gain sympathy. Whereas in Asian countries like Pakistan and India, the mental health is completely non existent and even people who suffer from it don’t come out and end up killing themselves. Biggest example of this is cricket. In cricket in last few years we saw that a lot of players from Australia, England and SA took mental health break but you never see it in India and Pakistani cricketers even when it’s apparent that they are mentally not in right place. here we see Meghan saying that she was suicidal during pregnancy and now people are sympathetic towards her EnterTheVoid 1
coffee_rules Posted March 9, 2021 Posted March 9, 2021 (edited) It might seem excessive in the west, the Asian and other sub=continental cultures, it is the reverse. There is no scope for discussion as it's considered taboo in society. People ought to be more open about it and not make it an ostracizing thing for the community. We joke about it insensitively refering to Agra or Nimhans, screwloose, C/2, crackpot, tera saboon bhi teri tarah slow hain kya? etc. Edited March 9, 2021 by coffee_rules EnterTheVoid, BacktoCricaddict and Vijy 1 2
Khota Posted March 10, 2021 Posted March 10, 2021 Lot of immature and naive comments here. Mental health is a real issue which desis dont like discussing because of the stigma. Vijy, BacktoCricaddict and Under_Score 3

Saying that Megan faked her mental health issues to gain sympathy, that's a pretty low act. Unfortunately, it's not uncommon. BacktoCricaddict, Under_Score, Khota and 1 other 4

If you put anyone in that situation with a dysfunctional family and this is what you will have. I believe her. These people have no shame in keeping Koh-i-noor as if it belongs to them.
Khota Posted March 10, 2021 Posted March 10, 2021 This is John Olivers warning to Meghan: “I mean, they’re an emotionally stunted group of fundamentally flawed people doing a very silly pseudo job,” Oliver continued in the clip. “That’s what she’s marrying into. So I hope she likes it. It’s going to be weird for her.” Vijy 1

Now, I don't know about the veracity of Megan's claims or whether she is faking something (I am often suspicious of celebrities and their fake public personas). One way or another, it should not detract from the fact that mental health issues are real and people have ignored or stigmatized them. Edited March 10, 2021 by BacktoCricaddict Khota and Vijy 2
