Same bairstow who looked like  a deer caught in headlights in turning conditions massacred the spinners on one side of the ground.  Kuldeep 105 wickets in 61 matches is still very impressive. Both helped win ODIs in places like England/SA.  After epic f*** up in the CT final 2017 we had to change something. But After WC2019 was this break up needed?

Again I'll say our pace bowling strategy needs to improve..  There is a stat Where we are among worst power play bowling side in World.  That's gotta change. 

Spinners will only be effective if you get at least 1-2 wickets in powerplay.  Bowling to a set batsman looking to accelerate is totally different.  Kul cha are not to blame here much.  Kuldeep is actually pretty good ODI bowler.  Chahal struggles in ODIs..  Due to lack in variations.

There was novelty factor which contributed in Kuldeep's success along with his talent.But since he got hammered in IPL before world cup he has not been the same.He always had to overcome his issue of slowness thru the air.But early wickets by fast bowlers meant batsmen could not take chances against him and became sitting ducks. Once wickets dried up in power plays for fast bowlers Kuldeep's efficiency drastically reduced. 

 

Chahal I don't think was ever going to be a long term solution, he is too one dimesional player.He also is very slow thru air. But these two should be in consideration for world t20 if they do well in IPL.

There is a thing called consistency and a thing called X factor. Kul and Cha brings this into play. Lets say Aus is Piling on runs and we have Jadeja and Axar bowling to them or even Ashwin. Now once you get hang of the spin in odi flat pitches it becomes very difficult to stop good batsmen. And finger spinners turn ball one way. Here in comes the advantage of leg spinners. They may bowl some bad balls but as they can turn ball both ways the probability of batsmen hitting a false shot arises. So a 350 score can suddenly become 320 because of quick wickets. See the 3rd odi against England 2018. India 156/3 in 30 overs and Virat batting on 71 at run a ball. India would have easily made 300 or more. It was up there on Kohli s alley.. What happened. Rashid comes and gets him and India collapse to 260.. England chase it in a jiffy.. game set series done.. kuldeep did same in the series against Aus in India in 2017. So we will always need a leg spinner..

Agree about the X factor but its a double edged sword, if the opposition has a lot of left handers or short boundaries Chahal becomes a liability, England can afford Rashid because they have six bowling options and Rashid himself is more than capable of getting a quick 15-20 runs which can make all the difference in an ODI
