Kul-cha combo over?

In ODI cricket? In Indian conditions. Not yet.

England series will be a good test.

Chinamen bowling always has that novelty factor going for it - and Kuldeep has to demonstrate efficacy now that that's gone.  I think he can.  Let's see.

The greater challenge that's coming for both wrist-spinners - the younger up and coming batch threatens their slots because they offer useful batting along with effective bowling.  The likes of Rahul Chahar haven't shined much with the bat, but its coming.  As much as I support Chahal in white-ball cricket, if you had an option to replace him with a 80-90% as good a bowler, who could also give you a big hitting inconsistent lower order hitter - a la Goutham, or Tewatia, why wouldn't you go for it.  Especially in T20s.  And ODIs are slowly turning into elongated T20s, although they started as shortened ODIs.

oh and btw, England blatantly manipulated the scenario for that game - one side square boundary in that stadium is barely inches more than the absolute minimum required.  That had a massive impact on the effectiveness of the spinners.

It is. Kuldeep has been systematically derailed (they tried the same with Pant, he has proven to be a tough nut to crack).

nd with Kuldeep gone, Chahal's potency has gone down as well.

By the time of the T20 WC , we would have turned the cycle back to Ashwin, Jadeja and Axar (2015 WC ahoy!). With two/three defensive spinners and Bumrah being hpalf bowler he was, we will NOT win the T20 WC (or a LOI tournament) any time sooner.

the idea is they are wrist spinners so will spin it irrespective of the flat or non conducive pitch but aren't utilizing pace bounce variation as much as the senior test pair( they both are around 5'6  in comparison Jadeja and Ashwin are much taller finger spinners so may be more accurate in various lengths) . I think they will do fine in LOI.

Chahal will get a long run but Kuly hasn't been treated well by this TM. Hope he has a great IPL under Baz/Morgan, 2 tremendous leaders who get the best out of their players.

There was a period when both were choking oppositions for fun. Super batting friendly World cup completely changed everything.

100% rigged the pitches. Kohli even complained.

Yet they now have the audacity to question the beautiful pitches of Ahmedabad. Pitch wasn't an issue when we got 36 all out. It was all skill.

But if England how bowled out twice and India backed up with a 50 /0 in the second innings, it isn't skill, it's the pitch doing freaky things.

Anyway I digress. Are they allowed to cheta by rigging boundary lines?

Should be the end of Cha atleast,if you look at the two ODI's he played in Australia he gave away 160 runs in 19 overs for just 1 wicket, replace him with Washi/Axar and you get a more economical bowler, a competent fielder and an vastly superior batsman.Don't know why TM is carrying him around like second coming of Warne

ODIs have changed quite a bit in tempo and in expectations from cricketers. When Kulcha were playing, big scores were fairly common but middle overs tended to be somewhat quiet and wkt taking options in that period were favored. nowadays, it's all about batting till 9 and going hard from ball 1 and even in the middle overs. as a result, kul cha (neither of whom are adept ODI bats or fielders) have found themselves sidelined. I expect to see more of likes of axar, jaddu, krunal, gowtham, sundar, etc. going ahead - not because these guys are better spinners but because the other names are a bit more 3D or 2D in nature. days of specialist bowlers are coming to an end, or so it feels.

chahal has gotten a decent run, but kuldeep has not been treated well by TM. and even in the limited chances he got, he has not grabbed them.

You really think we were gonna win the WT20 under Brat? An optimist you are :om:

See the source image

Grogu would do a better job of captaining than Brat. at least he could force choke some of the whingers & cheaters

No one bothers why Kul cha combo suddenly became ineffective especially in ODIs.  It actually happened when our pacers were unable to pick wickets in power play.  In fact situation was so bad teams used be 70/0 around 13 over mark when spinners came to bowl at set batsman..  No matter how good you are if pacers don't pick wickets in Powerplay spinner will struggle most of the time

Every spinner got carted around in WC,, no one averaged below 30. Was a seamers' WC from a bowling perspective. Adil Rashid averaged 47, Santner 53, Zampa 47, Rashid Khan 69 ..their teams continued to back them.

Our TM however had some other ideas. They have successfully derailed Kuldeep since then. I have said it earlier, will say so again - with defensive bowlers, we are not going to win any ICC trophy anytime sooner.

I just hope he has a good IPL this year.. Anybody who has taken 170 international wickets has earned and reposed the faith bestowed upon him, and besides he is only 26/27

You want nice guys to do well..He needs to have a good IPL, and I hope KKR makes the Playoffs this season
