Yes. If we want pacers who can bowl 145 k+ in almost every over then we must look for quicks who can cross 152 k in every series.

Pacers like Bumrah, Cummins, Rabada, Shami can bowl 140 k+ anytime they want to but 145 k+ happens only in quicker spells and in case of Shami his cap was around 146 k anyway.

I consider 140+ fast medium, 145+ fast, 150+ express, 155+ true express.

I consider other factors too .. like bowling style, zip off the deck, steepness of bounce and whether he is releasing the ball well into the crease.

The batsman must feel the heat and hostility of the pacer.

A pacer who gets a lot of zip and bounce off the deck and makes the batter hop and jump or really hurries onto him by releasing the ball well into the crease, will feel fast to the batter at 140 k+ even.

If pace ceiling of a bowler is 150+, he can bowl more regularly around 145 kph. And then the kind of run-up and action Bumrah has, he was always going to struggle maintaining high pace for long periods.

his hyper extension helps him ,otherwise he can hardly run even while fielding

We should go with

Akashdeep

Bumrah

Shami

Harshit attack for aus tour

Mayank

Sen

Backups

Tyagi if he does well.

Siraj should be permanently dropped from all formats. He should rest. Maybe play some ranji. He bleeds far too much.

Also just cause a bowler does well in ranji means f all in Australia. Vice versa is also true.

Look at Bashir averaged 42 in England. Averaged 32 vs us.

Same thing with guys like Sen etc. Don't judge by their stats in crappy indian pitches. See how they do in a tour.

There are no true 155+ bowler and do not think there would ever be one. that is just unrealist pace to bowl at.

Some 150+ kmph bowler would be able to break 155 kmph barrier but not consistently.

True 150+ kmph bowler (since the time of proper speedometers) are Akthar, Lee and Tait.  Now you can add Mark Wood to but he is doing that for last 2/3 years.

So 150+ kmph is extremely rear, Its a skill of itself and is v.unreal. There is no one who can tell you how to bowl at that pace or obtain that kind of pace.

A 145+ kmph bowler who has everything going for them -fully fit , 100% on fitness on that day, rhythm is going then they can hit 150 kmph -- there are few bowlers who are doing it right now. -- Nortje, Ferguson, Rauf are good example when everything is going for them they will start hitting 150+kmph mark.

Some bowler have a reserve tank in them and when needed in bigger match they are able to get their speeds up by alot -Cummins in WC SF and he  does that in Short spells in test too in crunch situations.

Bhuramh when he was at his fastest was touching 145 kmh regularly and in test when everything was going for him he bowled few in 150s making him unplayable add some bouncer to that. He is down in pace after injuries plus he as aded that away going ball so needed to alter the speeds

Some are consistent in ~145 kmph and wound not be able to go above 145-147 kmph -Naseem is an example of it.

Top speeds of Indian seamers this IPL(approx)

Mayank - 155.8

Umran - 148

Deshpande - 144.6 kph

Khaleel - 144 kph

Thakur - 144 kph

Rana - 144 kph

Mukesh - 143 kph

Crucial to get the best out of these bowlers and develop a bench.

comes down to those overs or spells .If someone is trundling then he is trundling ,it doesnt become fast just because it's him.

Fair enough.

But high pace options are few and far between , despite the huge talent pool.

BCCI has to go out of the way to ensure that the precious few who can consistently hit decent speeds are managed meticulously.

Losing Nagarkoti and Mavi was criminal.

Big test for Mayank today, let's see how he can boss around vs RCB on this Mickey mouse ground.

Can't bowl all back of lengths today, ball will fly here of the bat.

They both showed little improvement tbh.

Mavi listened to Bhuvi Bhaiya, who didn't want any competition.

Nagarkoti is more interested in uploading insta images of his six pack abs.

Both are going Nathu Singh's way.

Yudhvir can bowl 140+ too...  There are options if BCCI actually manages it well.

I disagree. He may or may not fail. You cannot judge him based on these pitches and boundary size.

He should be a test and odi bowler anyway. His real test will be in tests and t20 wc if picked. Pitched will be different there.

I will consider true express even if he bowls just one ball at 155 in a match. Lee, Akhtar and Tait were true express bowlers because all three hit 155 or more quite a few times.

I was mostly talking about ICF haters, who are itching for him to fail. So that they can call it a fluke.

Mayank is a quality bowler
