Jayant looks like a far better deal than krunal.  Drop krunal & play Neesham as 4th overseas slot is empty anyways.

Krunal is bowling trash on spinning pitches & absolute zero return with the bat.

Its not just death over batting though. Our collapse started around the 9th over. It went downhill from there.

wkts fall in cricket, it is normal  ... collapse is when a bunch of wkts fall in a short span. At Chennai, where batting gets difficult from overs 12-13, it can happen esp. if pushing for a big total

Need to keep the thread howling with so many fans ... game v PK tomorrow ... both teams are packed with hitters who would not prefer a Chennai pitch, therefore could again be a hit or miss affair for many w/ first 12-13 overs being relatively easy to bat

Our batting has been terrible this season.

We are struggling to get to even 150.

Whats wrong?

Your views.....

They’ve been given targets to score in and around 140. Also the target is to lose wickets in a collapse or regularly.

Listless display while batting. The entire batting unit was a farce.

Bowling can't always save us. And quite a few misfields today too.

Need to change the batting order/ personnel. Needs to target big score in the PP. This 120-140 can be defended only if the opposition has a breakdown.

Even if they are half decent, we will lose with these scores.

Delhi has smaller boundaries so about time MI decides to send Kishan right at the top.  It worked wonders last time albeit it helped that Rohit got injured.

Kishan

Rohit

Lynn

Surya

H Pandya

Neesham

Pollard

That's my Top 7 for MI..  For Delhi leg.

SKY needs to bat more. Exchange SKY with Rohit in your list.

Neesham and Pollard sharing 5th bowlers role may prove to be very expensive. They need Krunal

So I did look up historic performances on the Chepauk pitch.

These are the findings:

T20 matches played: 90

Matches won by teams batting first: 52

Matches won by teams batting second: 36

We batted first in 4 of the 3 games we lost. These numbers indicate that the team batting first has some slight advantage. But :mi: weren't able to capitalize on it at all.

Average 1st innings score: 157

Our scores: 159,152,150,137,131.

Slightly above average only once

What can you conclude? We've clearly played below what is the average performance at the Chepauk. The easy cop out for the management would be to blame the pitch. Personally I think all this pitch stuff is just exaggerated and doesn't make much difference. Need to fix our batting approach. get more runs in PP. pressurise the opposition bowlers enough. Right now our batting just pressurises our own bowling.

Yeah their batting has been under par, no doubt about it but you can't ignore the wicket's impact either. Players like QDK, Kishan, Pollard like pace on the ball which wasn't there on Chepauk, you'll see better performances from them on the other venues.

P.S. Quite surprised to find a Faiz Ahmed Faiz fan on ICF

Also the first time this season we batted well. Now is a good time to regain form.

Batting was likely to improve because of the better batting surface at Delhi, relatively more suitable for stroke play than Chennai's

Likes of QdK will come into play more
