So there has been no first class cricket in India since the pandemic began and by the looks of it, it wont happen this year as well. Its all good to play Vijay Hazare trophy and IPLs but I am just worried that lack of first class cricket may impact our future test generation. Should BCCI host the Ranji trophy this year in Dubai?

I'd say BCCI should arrange India A tour & few 4 day games in England that should help a lot.

Sri Lanka is a cheaper option. We should definitely look at playing the Duleep Trophy later in the year. Pick the top 40-50 players (from outside the national team) and organise a tournament with India A, B, C and a Sri Lanka A Team (A sides have featured in Duleep Trophy earlier). League format and top 2 go to finals.

We cannot have two back to back seasons without any domestic FC cricket.

Ranji has to happen this year, no questions. A tours or Duleep trophy isn't the answer. 4 groups, 4 cities with two or more grounds. It's totally doable and must be prioritized. Or kiss goodbye to India's test success.

There are 38 teams in Ranji trophy. Impossible to hold a tournament of such duration (minimum 3 months) in a bubble with 1000+ players and team staff. Logistical nightmare

FC is not at risk. It will be played when the conditions are good enough to resume cricket. In fact the players getting rest from a very very busy schedule as is the case with Indian cricketers might help them come back strongly. Others who may be rusty in first few matches, will start scoring runs and pick wickets once they have few games under their belts.
