Both archery and hockey loss are expected, I saw a mixed tt game as well it was ridiculous the gap in skill poor tall Indian Common wealth champions were doing all and holding getting initial advantage but the little  Taiwanese just steam rolled them after they started the point surge with their top spins its impossible. Its like the Indian players were too tall they needed different tables and the Taiwanese were just the right height.

It was a honest game I could d not differentiate the boy and the girl in the Taiwanese team * the guy a 19 year old little flimsy thing fecker his spin smash the pretty Indian tall girl she apparently is the common wealth champ could not even meet with bat. They did well to stretch the Taiwanese.

No real chance in TT. East Asians are so bloody good and they send in their best players unlike Asian Games.

Archery was frustrating, we have the ability but lack mental toughness. Forget gold, that we can't even make SF since 2012 London reflects so poorly on our clutchness. I am not having daydreams about beating the South Koreans (different level tbh), but same players who we get the better of throughout the year go on to clinch Olympic medals, take for example Mexican team today.

I am supremely unimpressed with archery they have to focus an do well in ranking round its similar story.. Of loosing to Koreans. F all

As per news filtering in Deepika was not happy Pravin Jadhav was chosen as her mixed partner. She wanted Atanu Das her hubby. But Jadhav had scored higher than Atanu in individual qualifying round so he was chosen.. hmmm

Too much fuss over Sai Praneeth's loss today. Do people honestly believe he had a chance against Momota in the expected QF clash?

Tricky draw for Sindhu as well, tough QF, toughest possible SF opponent in Tai Ttzu, the gold medal favorite and someone who bullies Sindhu when both bring their A game.

Satwik-Shetty phenomenal today but a draw from hell for them. Going forward need multiple upsets to be in medal contention. They are capable but toughest draw won't help matters.

Pakistan hockey has been in terminal decline.  Back in 2012 they were held together by sohail Abbas.  Once this legendary drag flicker was not s force they dropped out of the top 10 in the mens field. Many had predicted that.

Truth is this indian side + sohail abbas would be medal challengers

To be fair the 1/8 was a tough draw and Deepika jhadav did well to best them there was a clean 10 10 10 10 in one of the sets too. They seem to be capable of doing more than they achieve.

Cant believe they couldnt score 35 plus. Koreans were equally bad. But Indians were worse.

Though the silver some hits and misses from india on day 1.

I really hope we get something from shooting this edition. Supposedly our number 1 sport at multi country events and no medals in two editions will be a severe underperformance.

They were still decent till mid-2010s. Now really pathetic, won't mind resumption of bilateral series to bully them, unlike cricket these hockey test series won't generate revenue for their board, so morally doesn't feel wrong.

Sometimes windy conditions can make duels low scoring affairs. Tough for both teams in that case. It was predicted yesterday that wind will be more today. There were even thunderstorms in Tokyo today morning.

One of the key advantages Arhery has over shooting is after qualifying round you compete against one team. And if you win another team. Overall score doesnt not matter. You just have to be better than the other team or individual. Whereas in shooting you have to be the best across all 32 shooters to qualify and win a gold. So its always the overall score which becomes important. Not only that you have to do it twice. First to qualify in top 8 ( Saurabh came no 1) then again in Final where it starts from scratch. Incidentally the 8 shooters who qualified for final in the event where Saurabh came 7th today were all present in the world championship before this and Saurabh beat them all to win gold.

The only advantage which Shooting has is the conditions in the range which are same all across the globe. So you wont be affected by wind weather etc whereas in archery that plays a key role and you have to adapt..

Land of Karna, Arjun, Ekalavya and so underwhelming in archery. I mean this sport is culturally embedded in our country/society/psyche.....like Fencing in France or Judo for Japs.

To be fair archery is embedded in other east asian cultures as well.

South korean mythology is based on epic archers.
