People who discriminate will be there. Not everyone might be good. Who said being rich escapes discrimination ?

That is the main point put forth by the anti reservation lobby. Their argument is that a rich Dalit does not need reservation because he won't face casteism.

Reservations are different than being rich. Providing jobs and means to study is better. Reservations does discriminate against other castes. The whole point of discrimination is not have separate treatment by birth by having quota that same is happening.

Reservation is providing jobs and means to study. When you can see real life examples of a national hockey player being discriminated, you can understand how difficult it would be for a normal Dalit person in that village. Until the caste hierarchy is removed from every single Indian citizen's mind, reservation is required. I am more than happy to support removing reservations when we stop seeing news like what happened to the hockey player.

But the means is at expense of others. Financial assistance is better than asking others to not study or take a particular job.

What do you mean by financial assistance? Giving money every month? How would that help in long term? Education and Job guarantees a future.

 

And also it is not at the expense of the others. If you are a UC, you just need to 2 or 3 percent more marks than OBC. A small price to pay for not having to face caste discrimination their whole life.

Point is simple. If you are from UC, You can personally say that you don't see caste at all, you don't discriminate against Dalits so you don't see the need for reservation. But can you guarentee on behalf of all your UC Hindus that NONE of them will discriminate against Dalits? Unless we are in a place to do that, the issue still exists and reservation would still be required.

2 miscreants caused some ruckus and dealt by law , all newspapers make this as big a news as the fear of the olympic team creating history. Atrocities sell , esp in BJP ruled states. Caste discrimination is a real problem, but this case is not the mirror for such discrimination

SC ST and perhaps MBC reservation is ok. OBC reservation is BS . So many dominant castes like Yadav's , Jaats , Maratha's  etc have entered in obc category just on the basis of numbers. Infact many of these castes are actually big oppressors of SC ST.

Lol who said you need 2 or 3 percent marks more.  You need lot more when close to 50% percent of seats are reserved. Woman in dalits get a free pass since they qualify for both woman and caste reservation. Also why reservations in job promotions in govt. This is really discriminatory. Now that LC got a job through reservation and still field is not level in govt jobs for all castes.

A Dalit facing discrimination should always be the bigger news than a win in sports, however important it may be. Especially if the discrimination happens to one of the winning member.

Yes I completely agree. Caste pride is passed on from generation to generation, even now. OBC dominant castes are one of the biggest oppressors.

It is still alleged, wait till the case is proven. SC/ST has been used for all types of disputes.
