What a series Root is having. Respect 

 

Maybe he can be the seat warmer till Smith takes back the crown this Ashes. All 3 are good but obviously a huge step down from Smith, can't compare mortals with a demigod....however they can provide enough motivation for Smith to lay the smacketh down every time tongues start wagging about best batsman. Since no one will remember them 5 years after they retire this is the only service they provide in the larger scheme of things, force Smith to show his maha avtar.

Root is batting like a dream. Almost, but not quite (of course) approaching mid-level Smith. Peak Smith on the other hand was the closest to God - could not be dismissed. period.
