If this test is forfeiture, send a message by:

1. Pulling out of this WTC cycle

2. Suspending all bilateral ties with ECB indefinitely, like we have done with PCB

3. Throwing some doubts about our participation in ICC events in immediate future, should set cat among pigeons

4. Announcing 4 months long stretched out IPL next year (5 overseas players per XI, also raise salary cap) and if possible making it 12 teams instead of proposed 10

ECB have placed their guy Michael Beloff as head of DRC. Indian cricket will go nowhere unless we cut ECB down to size.

This test drama is just a symptom, if not this something else would have exploded in the future. Root cause is ECB's rapid gain in ICC boardroom in the last 5 years and exploitation of India when it comes to reallocation of financial resources (and role in governance) most of them made available thanks to Indian market, Snake Manohar betrayed Indian cricket as well along with SC.

India is offering 2 extra T20 matches during the next series. But i am not sure the sponsors who shelled out 25 million will like the idea of replacing a Test match with 2 T20s. It all comes down to how determined ECB is.

ECB makes 100s of millions of pounds every time Team India visits their shores and we do go there regularly...2011, 2014, 2018, 2021 (19 tests and 25+ white ball matches in 10 years time). Funny to see them crying over 25 million loss when there is a legit reason for why certain unfortunate events unfolded last week.

If they want to extort or do this blackmail game when we have been generous with our offers (extra matches next year) how are they not exactly like PCB? PCB too wanted to rob us based on some BS MoU, ECB is doing same thing here except the fact that they also run ICC...and have made over a billion thanks to BCCI in the last decade or so.

it won't be forfeited. there is far too much precedent against this verdict, and i thought Ganguly had offered a rescheduled 5th test which i think most right minded Englishmen would accept.

A part of me wants a forfeit, so that  BCCI can sever all ties with ECB, maybe even break away from ICC (people may think this is far-fetched but it will definitely happen in the next 20-30 years, something has to give at some point, sooner the better). No Indian participation in WTC, WC, T20 WC, CT...let these bhikaris manage for 4 years without alms from Indian market.

What started in 2017 must reach a logical conclusion. We can expand IPL in the meantime, tempt a few international stars away from national duty, maybe even boards, play a few series against friendly boards on our terms. When rest understand their folly, they will come back with mercy petitions and we can renegotiate new balance of power in ICC boardroom which must include higher share of revenue, more representation in various committees, much bigger IPL window, India getting more hosting rights, and who knows maybe a blanket ban on terror state Pakistan from ICC. Sickens me that our share of money goes to other boards including PCB. We have a lot to gain by doing something radical and calling ECB's bluff.

South African cricket survived for over 2 decades without ICC during apartheid years, hardly any international cricket yet they returned in early 90s as a top team. I am sure Indian cricket will thrive for next few years with a 4-5 months long IPL, proper domestic season and 3-4 series per year. Follow American leagues like NFL, NBA. 90% fans, money, sponsors from India, other boards must do well to remember that.

Look at long term future, we will lose nothing by skipping 4-5 ICC events this decade, if it means setting the stage towards totally controlling cricket's governing body and annihilating ECB, PCB, maybe even CA if they wish to go down that path.

Ind needs world too for cricket, which is important to countries like India. But I agree that India should try to breakaway from ICC, which means that top international cricketers too would not play (or be allowed to by their boards)in IPL. Only retired or 2nd string cricketers not involved with their national teams would be in for IPL.  One of the interesting things about IPL is how youngsters shape up to be able to represent India at international level. Once India stops international cricket, that angle would be out of equation as well. Should be interesting to see how India does without playing against top teams and how the cricket world innovates with revenue streams.

Break won't be permanent, nobody can afford that, even 3-4 years long separation can shake up the system and bring about a new order. Like how Packer changed cricket forever in 70s. He was a major villain in establishment circles those days, but can you imagine modern professional cricket without him?

And it will show how everyone is placed, who needs who etc.

I am with this. I only enjoy us playing vs Aussies, saffers. Don't mind the Kiwis.

Brits need to be taught a lesson.

I dont think indian will accept a forfeit loss.

Ind needs to develop a competitive rivalry sports culture with top countries. Traditional arch-rival, Pak is out of equation. The western teams have their own arch-rivals.

Only incentive of playing India is to squeeze some dollars. If these guys explore new revenue streams (most of the innovation including laws, DRS, new formats, etc., comes from the west), even that aspect would be gone.

We can have Sri Lankans and toygers as our main rivals.

As long as IPL exists, the West will depend on playing series' against india.

I will be surprised if ECB accepts that.  It is not like it was washed out by rain. Since this affects test championship points.

WTC has Covid cancellation clause
