Best cricketing performace ever by a left handed cricketer ever in a test match ?

Here I am listing in order of merit a list of my selection of best performances by  a left handed cricketer

 

 

1.Alan Davidson  80 and 44 and taking 11 wickets in Brisbane test v West Indies in 1960-61.-Magnificient all-round effort all but winning at est that was tied.Explosive as lightning and thunder wit both bat and ball,ressurecting his team in the gravest of situations.

 

 

 

 

2.Wasim Akram at Adelaide in 1989-90-Scored 123 and took 5-100 ,turning a game that looked all but lost.Artistry with ball and bat at a volume rarely seen,which lifted his team like a phoenix from the Ashes.

 

 

 

 

3.Brian Lara 153 n.o at Barbados in 1999 v Australia-On a broken wicket ressurected his teem from the depths of despair to attain untold glory.

 

 

 

 

4.Roy Fredericks  169 at Perth in 1975-76-Arguably the best innings ever confronting express pace.Fredricks literally took Lillee and Thomson by the throat,like tiger tearing his prey.Domination at a height unscaled.

 

 

 

 

5.Gary Sobers at Kingston v England in 1967-68-A masterpiece on a broken wicket scoring 113 when his team was like a sinking ship  and with the ball brought his team to the brink of victory.

 

 

 

 

 

6.Adam Gilchrist 204 n.o at Johannesburg  in 2002

 

Resembled a bomber destroying an aiirbase scoring the quickest double century till then.

 

 

 

 

7.Alan Border  100 and 98 n.o in Trinidad in 1984

 

Combativeness in regions rarely ever transcended ,reviving his team from dire straits.

 

 

 

8.Ben Stokes 132 n.o at Leeds in 2019 v Australia

 

Literally performed a Houdini act creating the impact of a hurricane intervening a hot summer day.After the last wicket fell he blazed away like few ever on a cricket field to take England over the line.It was literally playing 2 types of innings

 

 

 

 

9.Kusal Perera 153 v South Africa at Durban.

 

A whirlwind effort to pull off a near miracle.An all-time classic to ressurect Sri Lnaka from the grave to attain glory.

 

 

 

 

10..Wasim Akram at Melbourne in 1989-90

 

Captured 6-62 and 5-98 Pace bowling artistry and all round- skill displayed in regions rarely traversed.Pace bowling perfection personified.

 

 

 

 

 

11.Mitchell Johnson 7-68 and 5-59 at Centurion in 2014-Fusion  of pace ,movement and control in perfect proportion simply bamboozling batsmen.

 

 

 

 

12.Alan Border at Lahore in 1980

 2 150's on a wicket that turned sharply.Resembled a surgeon performing an operation.

 

 

 

 

13.Brian Lara at Sydney in 1992-93

 

In terms of domination recahed zones rarely transcended ,on the front and back foot.

 

 

 

 

14.Gary Sobers 132 in 1960-61 test at Brisbane

 Technically, a classic  Bissected every region of the field,with skill rarely exhibited

 

 

 

 

15 Saed Amwar 188 n.o at Kolkata in 1999

 

A classic on a wearing track,posessing every ingredient of a perfect innings.

 

 

 

 

 

16.Rishab Pant 121 at Brisbane in 2021

 

Classical agression,carrying the game single handedly on his shoulders after India looked destined to loose.Simply magical vibrations,turning the game 180 degrees.

 

 

 

 

 

17.Cllive Lloyd unbeaten 161 at Kolkata-

 

Few innings did as much as the doctor ordered .after his team was tottering at 212 for 8.His 161 run partnership with Andy Roberts swung the game around 180 degrees.

Didn't watch most on your list live so can only comment on 4 of them. 

 

1. Kusal Perera

2. Ben Stokes

3. Rishabh Pant

4. Mitch Johnson 

 

Perera edges Stokes as it was away from home on a not so flat wicket against Steyn, Rabada, Olivier, Philander etc. 

 

Stokes' came on a flattened out headingley wicket but he had minimal support from the other and was dealing with enormous pressure of a home Ashes Test... particularly in those closing moments.

Very good list.However Stokes played in a marginally more challenging situation and was more explosive.
