zen Posted October 19, 2021 Posted October 19, 2021 Booking a spot in the SF is no longer the main goal, which is about winning the tournaments. I would not care if India makes it to the SF but loses or exits in the group stages. With that in mind, I am more interested in who can be Ind's key players in the knockouts (other can bring India there). Below are some of my choices: SDP (Hardik). There is always something about a player who is not at its best but suddenly changes the game in an important moment - be it a Gilchrist in 1999, 2003 and 2007 WC, or Symmonds in 2003 WC (kept in the team for his match winning potential). SDP, of course, has been a player of big matches whether it is bowling that last over v BD in 2016, being a lone warrior v Pak in CT final, and helping to steady the ship in ODI WC SF with Ind being 4 down for nothing. Pant. Does not have much success in international T20s yet but has stepped up in IPL and in Tests at key moments. SKY. Another player who appears to be mentally strong. Kishan. A confident player who has the potential to shine in knockouts. Varun C. More for his mystery spin. Ideally, should be shielded in league stages, playing the last league game (and more if Ind makes it to the SF). Who else? Will be interesting to see what Jadeja can do as I have seen him mess up India chances (2009 T20 WC, CT 2017, ...) apart from one knock in SF of WC19. Bumrah can be off in key games. KL-Rohit-Kohli not sure about them. Poll closes on Nov 9th.

maniac Posted October 19, 2021 Posted October 19, 2021 Rohit and Kohli. They have a point to prove and they will be supercharged. Be afraid Be very afraid. Also adding Bumrah who has been a disappointment in pressure games.
Lone Wolf Posted October 19, 2021 Posted October 19, 2021 Rohit has been bang average in last two T20 world Cups. I am going with Kohli that he might suck throughout the group stage but will produce a rare clutch inns in semi. He will fail in final that's a given. Kishan Pant are wild cards.
