Yes, but Gaikwad is in the mold of Rohit, Kohli. He isn't perfect fit for T20s where you need an opener who can make use of PP. Same is Padikkal. He is good but not in T20s. Try to differentiate the format. I will go with Shaw and Jaiswal. We need format specific players.

Gaikwad is a slow starter. Don't need slow starters in T20.

There's is nothing called perfect for T20, I don't think Rohit & Kohli are perpetual slow starters, that is the core approach of this Indian Team in T20s, we beleive in cautious starts over blistering beginnings, Shaw is the kind of bat who can go from Ball 1, Gaikwad is a good No.3 for T20s, if there are a couple of early wickets he can consolidate and also hit boundaries. Also Jaiswal has the potential but he had not done anything noteworthy yet in whatever we have seen him. So overall it's the mindset that needs a change, not the core players, We need to instill an aggressive mindset in these players.

Someone made the great point that in IPL, all teams are relying on foreign players for power hitting. Therefore our youngsters are not getting groomed for these positions and are not getting the experience 

 

For eg, pant is being used as no 3 in his IPL team now, and had to change his game and mindset for that postion. Then adjusting back to different position in international becomes difficult. Previously samson, rahul all were taken from MO/ finishers to top 3 and their approach and mentality changed

 

Only pandya plays that role for MI so he seems as only option available. Other indian players we try lower are only pseudo all rounders like dube or thakur who are not genuine batsmen

 

 

Most indian youngster batsmen are only given top 3 batting role. Then how will they develop finishing mindset? In this scenario how will they have big hitting mentality without experience

 

If we had guts we would groom someone like ishan for lower order big hitting than in top 3 which is going to be saturated for few years

 

We need captain, coach and management with long term vision for that

spot on.. if we can find power hitters nothing like it.. the second best thing is to find 360 players.. those who can get runs innovatively instead of slogging towards mid wicket as their primary release shot. This is why a player like SKY is such a big asset to this team.. they will mainstream  these ramp/scoop shots.. our current old commie pricks like sunny and chewts like kohli pride in playing t20s with a straight bat.. these shameless chadarmods and their elephantish egos will not let this team see the reality..

Dhoni batted at number 3 when he played that mindblowing 183* knock.. Dravid and Chappel didnt make him a permanent number 3 as they knew there would be multiple options for that slot but its in finding the finisher at 6 that is more difficult.. Dhoni then joined Yuvi and the greatest pair of Indian cricket was formed.. these two were the two main architects in winning 16/17 consecutive chases ( just check 80s/ 90s score cards when we could barely chase anything ).. winning series in Pak in 2006, 2007 T20 triumph after the disastrous odi wc exit, multiple wins in bilateral odi series and rounded off by 2011 world cup.

News flash for you who are majority of power hitters in IPL ?Sehwag is only top order guy from India who had not changed his game during his career. So your thinking that Kishan or Shaw will become power hitters is just expecting whole lot from nothing.
