Guy will be face of Indian batting for years to come. He will lead the way in tests and ODI's. Have really high hopes from him. Just need to give him two full domestic seasons and exposure on A tours. And by that time, he will be old. Need to draft players young to develop them.

He is just 20 years old. I am mostly looking at him as our test opener. We won't require much of him in opening and with Rahul getting his form back and Ruturaj next in line, we surely don't need to throw him into the deep end so soon. Only last year in IPL he was struggling against international quality bowlers( as expected from 19 year old). But this year he had made significant improvement in that aspect. We are not Pakistan that we need to give the 20 year old debut. Let him develop further. He is a genuine talent, lets not waste and lose him by making him debut too soon. Vijy 1

But my view is that Spinners are a Puzzle for some period of time. once a batsman manages to not get out for first 18 balls against a spinner , he gets to understand what that spinner is doing. that has happened with me. i have found myself struggling against a spinner and some how if u dont get out of few overs against that spinner for 1 or 2 overs , things become very simple. i trust sanju can sort this out. My reasoning is this - He will never get a decent run at the top .So will have to play spin lot more in India team. - His problem is with not any particular type or a particular bowler . Gets out to any quality spinner at crucial phase. -He will not get many chances to read those mystery kind of spinners and learn to tackle in T20 . Hence it will be difficult for him to perform right away . Even i always thought once he gets 6-8 matches he will start making it big. But last 1.5 years the way he played against spinners i have now no hopes of that as he will get only MO position and not as an opener or even #3 .
maniac Posted December 15, 2021 Posted December 15, 2021 No one will have a Sachin or Kohli type peak because we have too many formats + IPL, which suddenly throws too many talents that now force their way in which means careers won’t be as long. So on that being said Prithvi Shaw. I have a feeling he will have that sehwag level peak where for 2-3 years he will destroy bowling attacks and be the most feared batsmen but then fade away just as fast. I don’t wish ill on him and wish him but nothing but the best and hope he does have a long career. I just feel that way because In such a short career, he has already been in the news for the wrong reasons for either his conflicts with management etc , or getting banned for failing drug tests, failing fitness tests etc. However still feel he will be the next iconic batsman. Vancouver Posted December 15, 2021 Posted December 15, 2021 I think Pant will go the route of Ishant Sharma, a one series wonder in Australia. Shubman Gill is the one who will be ATG.

He is no flash in the pan
