Hit close to 150 kph. you come across absolutely clueless comparing one player to another on the basis of physique without understanding that athletes can have different bodies and they can't do anything about that. They have to make the best out of what they have. You cannot change your musculoskeletal structure. So blaming a player for his lean body is trivial and childish. Pandya hits big sixes which shows the strength he has. You don't need to be big to bowl fast or hit big. You need lean muscles which he has. You don't need big muscles but lean muscles. Big muscles make you slow. Like fast bowlers can bowl differently. Some have backfoot landing parallel to the crease, some midway and some straight. They all are different type of athletes so their landings are also different and one cannot be compared to the other. His back injury is stress injury due to the flaw in his bowling action and not because of his fitness. Umesh Yadav and varun Aaron are strong, still got 3-4 stress fractures. Aaron too underwent surgery in 2013.

There you. Technique. He doesn't possess the strength and conditioning needed to support his playing style. Hence he gets injured. Needs to work on his strength. raki05 1

There is a layer of fat around their abbs. Doesn't mean they don't have core strength. Infact they have elite top tier core strength. The added weight is just a layer of fat which conceals it. They have dense muscles with some fat around it. Then there are fat guys or skinny guys who try to diet their way to a 6 pack. That's totally different All NFL players have abs, the sport requires them to be a lot more bulky hence the extra layer of fat, no athleticism is required in weight lifting hence it's not a fair comparison to fast bowling, six pack abs indeed imply two things firstly less body fat percentage secondly a strong core, pandya has both with a lean physique, him getting his back injuries is nothing to do with his physique, tell me how many 124kph once in a while part time seamer can within in three years start bowling 140kph plus in test matches? It has never happened, pandya only achieved it due to his supreme fitness and agility.

He talked about building strength and condition for sport specific reasons. Build maximum strength, conditioning and power for your sport. Be an athlete not a power lifter or a body builder. Brett Lee was gifted, absolute natural. He didn't need to go to gym but all aren't as gifted, so, they have to work their ass off to to become stronger to be able to bowl pace

Many of the yesteryear West Indian fast bowlers didn't exactly focus on 6 packs. Or even guys like Donald. Most of them were athletes though. raki05 1

Aaron, Umesh, Bumrah, CumminS, starc, Mitch Johnson, Lee all suffered multiple back stress fractures in their careers. All of the guys you listed have done proper strength n conditioning & have ideal muscle mass. Pandya just doesn't has the physique to come back to 100% from a back injury. It's clear as daylight. How he runs how he bowls.. It's crystal clear he cannot risk his back for pace anymore. He will never touch 140k again.

So sad to see what happened to varun. He still bowls quick. 137-143 ish. Wish he had gotten more opportunities at the time. We wasted him and saini recently. Varun and umesh had the perfect build for fast bowling. Strong, fast and possessed excellent endurance. built like a brick shithouse. raki05 1

You need to work on your core by training your body for strength and conditioning to achieve optimal core strength. Pandya I am sure trains but he needs to get stronger to make sure he doesn't hurt himself. Maybe he lifts too heavy for his own good. Not sure raki05 1
vvvslaxman Posted December 15, 2021 Author Posted December 15, 2021 You can pick up injuries in Gym as well. lol A common place where back injuries occur. Improper form is one reason. raki05 1

Shami was like that. But he went through a routine and re-habilitated himself to withstand the rigors of fast bowling in tests. He doesn't exactly have "six pack". But he rarely dips in his intensity, energy while bowling. He is much older than pandya. So that makes him focussing on 6 pack. Some bodies just cannot withstand vigors of fast bowling for various reasons but to come to a conclusion that he is focussing on 6 pack is ridiculous.

He is ultrafit on the field and very good outfielder due to him focussing on his gym. To conclude his injuries are due to his gym work is riduclous.
