putrevus Posted December 17, 2021 Posted December 17, 2021 England have no Xfactor bowlers.Mark Wood is too raw to consistently pick up wickets.Without Archer this bowling attack stinks.
The Realist Posted December 17, 2021 Posted December 17, 2021 Archer is nothing special. Only taken 42 test wickets in his career. Eng batting is dire, that's where the real problems are.

Archer averages 30. He can bowl 140 for 2 or 3 spells Max and then reverts back to trudnlee at 130-136. He is a one innings man. Edited December 17, 2021 by Jay

Like focus on actual strength and condition your body to withstand rigours of test cricket. So train for functional strength and not beach muscles.

He is the first guy complaining about workload. Honestly i have not seen any fast bowler (barring Akhtar/Lee) consistently bowling 150 kph in a Test. It is about bowling fast when you want to not about bowling fast all the time. If you really want to have a long career, you should be sensible about when to bowl fast when to bowl within yourself.

West indians arent natural athletes per say. they often workout consistently. Most africans in general do some form of athletic activity. I have been around many of african origin. They love being fit and athletic. average asian is just lazy as *. These days however its changing. Many do like to keep a fit body. Edited December 17, 2021 by Jay
vvvslaxman Posted December 17, 2021 Author Posted December 17, 2021 Have to hand it to Stokes. He bowled manfully. Did the dirty work of bowling short stuffs at the batsman. Takes a lot out of you. He also bowled yorkers. Deserved better numbers for his spell. Robinson with his limited speed posed enough problems. Broad was very good. Woakes was the most useless. Atleast Andu kept it tight.

He took six wickets at 27.8 avg and an economy of 4.63. Edited December 17, 2021 by GeeGaw

England abused Archer initially by making him play in all formats.Instead of easing him and increasing his work load gradually.Archer would have been far better than guy like Woakes in this series. Tall, can bowl fast and extract bounce. He already floored Smith once. He was bowling at 96.2 mph during that spell. I don't think any of these guys can get there. Wood can get there. But he is a skiddy bowler. Not known for extracting bounce of a length despite pace. Woakes is such a disappointment. He is averaging over 50 in Australia. If he can't do anything with pink ball what is he useful for.
Iconoclast Posted December 17, 2021 Posted December 17, 2021 England should have picked Saqib over Woakes who is just crap overseas.

Lone Wolf Posted December 18, 2021 Posted December 18, 2021 Damn Root less than 200 away now from World record... Goodness whatta beast run. No minnow bashing & faced quality attacks this year. India twice this year then Kiwis & in Australia... Bradmanesque in Sri lanka. This is his peak run.
Jay Posted December 18, 2021 Posted December 18, 2021 It's so boring to watch our little sons play each other. Our sons down under have the advantage but pommies are fighting hard. Our grandson green looks promising.
sage Posted December 18, 2021 Posted December 18, 2021 root playing like his old self unable to convert
vvvslaxman Posted December 18, 2021 Author Posted December 18, 2021 Just now, sage said: root playing like his old self unable to convert Credit to bowler. Gilly was making a point how Root wants to paly every single ball. He rarely very tries to leave the ball. So it increases the chances of getting out.
vvvslaxman Posted December 18, 2021 Author Posted December 18, 2021 Who would have thought. Green looks the most threatening bowler.
vvvslaxman Posted December 18, 2021 Author Posted December 18, 2021 Good carry. decent pace 140 kph. He has touched 146k too. Cameron Green i thought he was a trundler. Wow.
vvvslaxman Posted December 18, 2021 Author Posted December 18, 2021 Lyon gets a lot of purchase. Ball spins and jumps. But he has to mix it up with straighter one. Will be more effective.
