Should BCCI place a soft ban on 'fast' bowlers bowling slower than 125 - 128 kph average in our domestics ?

Nobody says Jamieson will finish better. It is just that we are over-simplifying that there is only ONE way to do well in Tests when there are plenty of examples that you can do well in many ways. So using that metric to eliminate bowlers will reduce the inflow with no guarantee that all these guys will maintain their pace for longer period. Especially we have had terrible experience over the years. Bowlers coming in and losing pace after some time. 

 

Let us not forget Ishant played through two eras. One in the 2000s. One after 2015. His bowling average  got significantly better in the last few years without an additional increase of pace.  Infact he was clocking 140 plus effortlessly in the mid 2000s.  But under Dhoni his length all got messed up. He became short and wide sharma. Only recently he started bowling fuller length balls, bowling more in-swingers.   Ofcourse not the sharma we have right now. 

 

When Unadkat played under-19 everyone was impressed with his pace. He was hitting 139/140 kph at that age as other guys like Sandeep Sharma, Netravalkar were uber trundlers . Natural assumption was he would gain speed. But he became a rank trundler. 

 

We have to let everyone play and see who gains pace. who loses pace.

Threshold cut off speed should be put to play for India...average pace of 136k.

Before selection pacers should be asked to bowl 30 balls and pace should be recorded.

All other points should be noted too ..like swing, accuracy etc.

Other factors can help when u compare pacers who are shortlisted.

I would unanimously select the fastest and then for other 5 pacer selection, I would consider other factors too.

So my 6 pacers would not be the fastest 6 but will have the fastest and then rest 5 would be smarter ones but faster than 136k average.

 

This would be for test ,odi and t20

136.4 kph is ideal avg pace. 136 is bit low.

I disagree... only pacers with avg pace of 136.456789123 should be permitted to play in the cricket. Otherwise, they should be sent to "boot camp" and made to do penance until they cross this magic threshold
