Ross Taylor announces international retirement

Ross Taylor has announced he will retire from international cricket at the end of the current home season with the upcoming series against Bangladesh being his last Test cricket before he finishes with the ODIs against Australia and Netherlands.

What's with the fetish to play farewell matches. NZ can play a young batsman in these three series. Still better than Count who regressed beyond his age but shamelessly plays every match.

There won't be any. Test cricket is their only source of income being centrally contracted. No IPL. No LOIs. Basically from 5 crores to nothing. So they will try to stick around as long as they can. I have a feeling internally team management has this view. Kohli can always milk money in the IPL even after retirement. But these guys can't.
