1 selector short in selection committee

BCCI has not got time in 5 months to appoint 5th member of the selection committee.

BCCI has been selecting teams with one selector short after Abey Kuruvilla resigned from his post in February 2022:

 

Kuruvilla resigned from his post in February as he had completed a total of five years on the board’s cricket committees. Since than BCCI has been selecting teams only with 4 selectors

Chetan Sharma, Sunil Joshi, Harvinder Singh and Debashish Mohanty have been selecting teams without a 5th selector on board. The selection committee  has selected teams for SriLanka series, followed by the tours of Ireland and England, as well as the upcoming West Indies trip.

I know selection doesn't have that much to do with personal performance, but boy that's a list of also-rans.

Is this North-South-Center quota still there? That was a big problem, just select whoever is good enough. Why can someone sitting in Karnataka not watch Punjab vs. Bengal on hotstar?

3 selector policy should be enough, who should have a minimum experience of playing 25 Tests and/or 50 ODI's for India.

Looking at that line up, extra selector or 2 or 3 less selectors  won’t make a difference

One thing to be said for Joshi and Sharma, and probably Harvinder too, was that they maximised their limited potential.

 

I mean, for a guy who was barely 5'6" tall, Sharma had a pretty good international career supporting Kapil Dev as a seamer; and IIRC, he may even have managed an international century with his feisty batting.  Sunil Joshi, I think, was undone by the winds shifting away from defensive spin bowlers. Highly determined, tough cricketer.

Harvinder was quite nippy, pace in the range of 130-135, not sure why he was dropped but we got a replica of him in Agarkar by 1998.
Sunil Joshi was in leagues of Rajesh Chauhan and Ashish Kapoor...old school spinnders with not much variations and rely on accuracy with a bit of turn. Unfortunately, their utility was limited in late 90's.

Selectors don’t even watch matches anymore on TV. What is the point even.

soon, we can do away with selectors all together and just pick names at random out of a lottery. that way, the BCCI can save money. (obviously intended as a sarcastic comment)
