Also how I lament India not playing Axar Patel vs these bozos in PP in WT20.  It was so apparent that Maharaj was owning Babar & Rizwan.  We went with oldie Ashwin & Charsi Varun Chakri.

There are different levels of batting.

 

Selfless

Bit Selfish

Totally Selfish

Jadeja level selfish.

 

Babar plays on jadeja level of batting when he bats with tail. Take a single on first ball and do what ever you want on next 5 ball. If team gets all out our awam will praise me for lone man standing. Btw not judging from this innings but many i have seen in past too.

You mean Jaddu and Varun?  Ashwin didn't play against Pakistan.

Of course he is now but he didn't exactly have to beat off a lot of competition to get into the team is what I'm saying. Here Siraj wasnt getting a debut at home even against Bangladesh despite performing for many years. Being made the alpha in a team has obvious advantages for ones career trajectory with your place being generally quite secure.

with heavy dew doubt it'd have mattered anyway. Our seamers needed to do the heavy lifting

Farming the strike is done with absolute mugs. Yasir has a test ton,that too in Aus. Why should Babar refuse him strike.Yasir should be able to handle himself

I know yasir can bat but he took single on first ball in multiple overs when SL spinners were getting quick wickets. Also i have seen babar's batting in test in past as well so this opinion wasn't based on one innings.

Absolute mugs with the bat? Only we have that for sena conditions. 

Once we pass thakur who himself is a tail enders these days we have no one who can bat. Here and there we can fluke some hits with bumrah and shami.

He's taking the singles on offer.Its tough to attack here so farming will just stop the scoring. Yasir should also look to rotate strike.

Shami can bat. Has 2 fifties IIRC. Bumrah has also improved.There's no need to farm strike with Shami atleast.

 

See how Laxman and even Steve Waugh used to bat with tail.Laxman in that Mohali win gave strike to Ishant regularly.

Mendis is a proper bat...  Hasranga IG played Vs Eng in tests & failed to impress.  However can be lethal vs Pak as he once bamboozled them in a T20 series in Pak. 

But Mendis is in the squad & future of SL batting.  His bowling is bonus.

Ball is dry initially...  We trusted Boobie too much & Bumrah was in awful form for a year.  It was bad planning from start to finish. 

151 wasn't too bad.  Pak's blazing start in the end was the difference.
