Harry Brooks in the recent series against Pakistan wandered outside the crease every single time. Alex Hales, Salt were found to wait until the ball was released every single time. Basically one person is following the law. Other one is not. How is it possible both are doing the right thing. Like i said normalizing it is coz it was never stigmatized or considered an issue for 1 reason or another and no one felt it an advantage big enough to complain about, you cannot do much about it in that case. Then when Ian chappell - from what i remember - kept pointing it out in commentary about batsmen backing up they took a dimmer view of it without completely eliminating even a mm worth of an advantage. You cannot prove intention all that easily in these cases but it's hard to claim someone who was an inch out of his crease without trying was deliberately doing so to gain an advantage, it will be one person's word against the other like they don't believe Dean was leaving her crease repeatedly that day. zen
Stats on Ind do not make much sense as they reflect more balls played by 2 batsmen who run in a particular fashion. If you look at the #s in the tweet: Rohit 38%, so if he had played more balls, Ind's % could have been different ... while KL, SKY, & Axar have a low sample size. Many of them may not even have been at the non striker end for more than 1 ball Also 20% (and ideally should be over a large sample size not a game. Eng could have 10% versus AFG for e.g.) need to be compared with other teams' ... The # on its own means little Anyways, twitter stats are more for the masses mainly, so ... ... Sticking to rules is the highest form of sport sprit. Not taking undue advantage is sport sprit. Not some old boys code from the bar. * off and two middle fingers to the English. Link to comment
