Below is how it works: Pick 6 batsmen Pick 5 bowlers Select a captain from the 11 players Points 6 Batsman judged on Avg * SR where higher = better 5 Bowlers judged on Eco * SR * 20 where lower = better Captain's points will be doubled if a batsman and halved if a bowler Team points/score = Batsmen score - Bowlers score The highest team score/points after the final wins Notes/Rules * Matches involving AFG, AUS, BD, ENG, IND, NZ, PAK, SA, SL, & WI only * No points for catches, runouts, batting by the "5 bowlers", and bowling by the "6 batsmen" * If a batsman does not have an average (i.e. remains not out in the tournament), use his highest score as the average * If a bowler does not have a strike-rate (i.e. fails to pick up a wkt), use the number of balls bowled as the strike rate * Calculate and post your own scores (let's keep it self managed. I will try to update where possible) * You would pick a team for the entire tournament for matches played from Oct 22 to Nov 13 * NO EDITING allowed (even for injured players) after the Oct 22nd deadline. Editing penalty is 5,000 points per player Get your 11 for the whole tournament in by OCT 22nd 2 AM EST (an hour before the AUS-NZ game) Format Batsmen 1 2 3 4 5 6 Bowlers 1 2 3 4 5 Use the format above for clarity. If you post an normal 11, the first 6 would be your batsmen (no bowling points for them) and next 5 your bowlers (no batting points for them) Best of luck!! Edited October 18, 2022 by zen
zen Posted October 16, 2022 Author Posted October 16, 2022 (edited) A quick example to calculate points (excluding games versus associates from qualifiers) Batsman A: Avg 40, SR 150 Avg * SR = 40 * 150 = 6,000 Batsman B: Avg 30, SR 200 Avg * SR = 30 * 200 = 6,000 A + B (+ C, etc.) = 6,000 + 6,000 = 12,000 Bowler A: Eco 10, SR 20 ER * SR * 20 = 10 * 20 * 20 = 4,000 Bowler B: Eco 8, SR 25 ER * SR * 20 = 8 * 25 * 20 = 4,000 A + B = 4,000 + 4,000 = 8,000 Team points/score = 12,000 - 8,000 = 4,000 PS If a batsman does not have an average (i.e. remains not out in the tournament), use his highest score as the average If a bowler does not have a strike-rate (i.e. fails to pick up a wkt), use the number of balls bowled as the strike rate Edited October 17, 2022 by zen

zen Posted October 16, 2022 Author Posted October 16, 2022 Added the captain clause to the mix where if the captain is a batsman, his points are doubled. If a bowler, his points are halved. Read the above posts to understand the game, pick accordingly, and observe how your 11 performs in the WC!

zen Posted October 17, 2022 Author Posted October 17, 2022 (edited) TIP: Not necessary to make a proper 11 as you could pick 6 batsmen who could all be openers if aiming for average or lower middle order batsmen if aiming for SR for e.g. and 5 bowlers who can be all pacers or spinners. The goal is to maximize your points by increasing the gap b/w batting (higher the better) and bowling (lower the better) points! Edited October 17, 2022 by zen

Based on the above, Moeen will be considered among your 5 bowlers. You will not get any points for Moeen's batting only bowling so you can pick specialist bowler if you prefer.

Subtract bowling points from batting points after the final, that would be your points The info on avg, sr, eco, etc. would be easily available by following the links in one of the above posts Swag 1
zen Posted October 18, 2022 Author Posted October 18, 2022 (edited) TIP 2: Since the points are awarded for "Avg * SR" for batsmen and "ER * SR * 20" for bowlers, you do not need a player to play most games ... For e.g. if someone picks up a 5-er and does not play again, you have in fact hit a points jackpot.
