And yet he has been offered the role of kaptaan against NZ. - he bats at critical times and has made meaning full achievements that have won us matches - he has fielded probably the best fielder after Jadeja and jaddu is not in the cup so he is fielding better than all others. -he has bowled so well at critical times, got wickets and gave less runs- do you want to see his bowling analysis in world cup games. what more do u want if he tries harder , he will break again- break his body. He deserves the captaincy- he has got gujrat to win IPL.
SRT100 Posted November 3, 2022 Posted November 3, 2022 Someone new has to lead this T20 side, Hitman is finished in T20 cricket. It cant be Kohli, KL not yet trusted with pressure, Pant possibly but outside of these two, there is no one else. Its a positive step in moving on from Hitman.

putrevus Posted November 3, 2022 Posted November 3, 2022 Pandya getting captaincy is very much similar to Dhoni being in t20 teams that too as a captain for more than decade.

It isn't the same since Pandya has been around for longer, but Dhoni started with a T20 WC win so we'll take something like that to fill the vacuum since 2013.

IMO Dhoni happened to be the captain for a team which won T20 WC. His contribution in that win was pretty negligible but as the saying goes it is better to have lucky captain than a good captian. If we are honest, India was extremely lucky to win in 2007 and 2013. They have not gotten any luck since then that is also a contributing factor for the drought since 2013.
