Lack of practice. Yes he is one of those rare cases where i notice regression instead of progression.  In his very first season right after world cup he made 728 runs in 5 first class matches at an average of 104 @78 strike rate. Punjab was struggling in that season. Once he joined them they became a different side

Both are too young to have been "wasted" so far. 

 

Gill's success/failure is his own doing, it's not like he isn't getting selected. 

 

BCCI/Shaw needs to fix whatever issue they have otherwise he is the one under risk of being "wasted."

there are plenty of such cases in india. likes of kambli, sanju manju, etc. were all averaging very high early in their careers, and then they got found out soon enough.

Gill has looked atrocious in last 2 games the way he got out. For someone who has done well at internationals and IPL, it is quite strange. Short on confidence ?

He has never played a ground breaking innings in the IPL. By now he should have had a 100. Even Rahane has a 100, Mahela, Sachin all have 100 who played in different era
