Unless we find a decent leggie, Chahal will continue. Bishnoi is competing with Sundar. Both off spinners but Sundar can bat.

I am not too convinced with Ind's bowling ARs unless the conditions favor their type of bowling. They are not even reliable enough to finish their bowling quota. Many times, I have seen Axar at #7 but hardly bowling much. 

 

Pick 4 bowlers including a bowling AR if you want some batting cushion at #8 + mix them with Sir Don (who can bowl 3-4 overs) + Hooda (who can bowl or can be developed to bowl 1-3 overs as bilaterals are about developing players too). 

 

More over the games are at Mumbai, Pune, & Rajkot so at the first two venues, quicks could play a bigger role.

hooda's bowling is not what concerns me, but rather his batting - he would be too low at no. 7. that's a specialized position in t20s inhabited by the likes of Dre Russ.

Among the options Ind has for #6-7, Hooda is a good one (Another one is Tewatia, who is not in the squad) … Hooda is versatile enough to bat anywhere, preferably in the top 3-4, but I want someone like a Tripathi to be given a shot too in the top order #1-3. Gill, Kishan, Tripathi, Ruturaj, etc., usually bat in the top order (#1-3) … While Hooda’s power game can be utilized in the lower middle order. Because he can bowl too, he can still be useful if he does not get to bat much … Even Samson needs to be tried out at #6 as there is competition (or options) for slots in the top 3-4. Samson has a free stroking game which can be leveraged when death over specialists are on. In recent ODIs in NZ, he was slotted there iirc. 
 

Players tried out in difficult positions like #6-7 should be allowed to fail, learn, and grow!

yes, nos. 6-7 are difficult positions and call for specialized skill sets. IMO, those positions are best suited for likes of maxwell, andre russell, (peak) pollard, etc. of the current squad, I don't see any exact replacements, so we will have to manage with hooda, samson, etc
