He is capable of accelerating but never seen him do it when the game is open for both sides except for that tied game vs New Zealand.

Last 2 yeasr strike rate of batsmen batting at 6 or above.  Axar patel's strike is twice that of jadeja

Axar 113.93 strike rate 38.16 avge

Jadeja  57.50 strike rate 38.33 avge

I understand Jadeja missed a few matches. But his absence was not at all felt. But his fielding is a major plus.. So he has to be part of the squad if not playing XI. Bowlingwise Jadeja is marginally better.  Sundar is almost on par with Jaddu.  But pappu strikes big these days. I was shocked when he smashed Starc for back to back sixes.

Who's pappu?

Axar is better hitter v spin. More suited to these conditions. But fielding tips the balance. He or any other SLA contender has to have a massive IPL

Jadeja was out of the side along with Ashwin after 2017 and then walked back in after 2 yrs during the 2019 wc where he played a couple of innings in important games that impressed everyone but was still not good enough to take us over the line. Rightfully was discarded since then in all whiteball formats but has again made a comeback into the team in a WC year because of 'muh balance' just like the previous dozen times and his fielding which considering the lack of athleticism in the team is admittedly an asset now more than it was when we were a better fielding unit. It's a scam which keeps happening every time a major tournament comes around because we are not able to/won't groom anyone else for that role.

He should be the permanent 12th man then!
