This was a 50/50 decision but not a howler.

The rules clearly state Control of the ball and fingers underneath the ball.

There's no rule that states how many fingers or what percentage of the ball touches the ground.

I've seen many catches in the slip where a part of the ball always touches the ground. It's impossible without some part of the ball touching the ground in most tight slip catches.

Either way, Gill was a goner as Boland has his number. Aus had a clear strategy against him.

If this was an in red hot form Pant and this occurred to him, this would have been a match changing event but the way Gill played the entire game, he was a goner at any minute.

yep, he was a walking wicket. loose, flashy, no technique, suspect temperament.

should play in MO, or even better, get booted temporarily from the squad. bring in jaiswal

It was not a clean catch. The fielder didn't have control over his movements. Hence when he fell the ball touched the ground.

Let's be honest here, BCCI may control the boardroom, the whites still control the game.

A fine on Gill. How many times have they fined Broad?

Broad is special even by white man standards

It was OUT. Starc was in control of the catch and it got grounded much later.

My view is Gill was out and so was Duckett. If this one is not out then Gill one also would be not out.

he was in same motion when he grounded it. He basically used the ground to stabilise himself.

Gill was not out.
