You cannot randomly field a set of bowlers and expect them to repeat what Broad has been doing over a decade. He has over 100 wickets against Australia in England at 26. We played on a flat wicket too. Our batting is just not as good as Australia's. In current form even out of form Smith >>>> Virat Kohli, Head >>> Kahane, Gujara. Smith's avg is 31 and Once they figured out Head's weakness , he did not have any great innings.Pujara scored the same amount of runs in his last five test in England series as Head with same number of 50s with same average, These Aussies are struggling to reach 280. I gave this Aussie team way too much credit initially but they are a very timid side who were there to be taken. Edited July 28, 2023 by putrevus
putrevus Posted July 28, 2023 Posted July 28, 2023 Wow I don't think it is great English bowling which is causing this, Aussie batting stinks.

Even India was 98/5 against England. Pant and Jaddu helped us take the lead. It is not like our batting is blameless here. We have been failing overseas for 3 years. Bowlers started failing once inform Bumrah/Ishant/Shami combo came apart. We didn't find a replacement for that. Shami was not that good in England even before. Umesh neve rhad a good track record against AUstralia. Thakur is at best 1st change bowler. Siraj was the only in form. But unfortunately he doesn't know how to set up bastmen. Even the 600 wicket taker Anderson was struggling against Australia. Guys like Woakes, Wood have to bring their skills along with Broad in spurts to handle Aussie batting unit.

Pant's avg in those 4 tests was 38 and jadeja's 31.00. Indian batting has been bad but bowlers are ones who have been losing tests and series. Indian bowling needs to get better, I don't think Indian batsmen like Gill and co will scoring 500 plus runs in England any time in near future. Edited July 28, 2023 by putrevus

Not batsmen. Sandz, Vijy and Sgattick10 1 2
Tillu Posted July 28, 2023 Posted July 28, 2023 Happens when a lot of money is riding on you. Reason why our batsmen feel so much pressure during knock outs.

Pressure of being 1050 crore rich? :) lol If anything these guys should play with absolute freedom. Someone like KOhli should have zero pressure. He has the money. He has the fan following. He has the PR machinery.

vvvslaxman Posted July 28, 2023 Posted July 28, 2023 Smith is fighting one last time to make his mark in this series. Let us see whether he can step up.

vvvslaxman Posted July 28, 2023 Posted July 28, 2023 They are still trying to wear them out rather than taking the attack to them
vvvslaxman Posted July 28, 2023 Posted July 28, 2023 Root strikes. Carey gives 100th test catch to Stokes.
Nikhil_cric Posted July 28, 2023 Posted July 28, 2023 Bazball is the smokescreen. The real question is how England keep getting the ball to move for lengthy periods of time - whether its conventional here or reverse in Pakistan?
Kothili Posted July 28, 2023 Posted July 28, 2023 Carey is the opposite of Gilchrist who would have smacked the bowling from the get go.
vvvslaxman Posted July 28, 2023 Posted July 28, 2023 It is a miracle they are up 2-1 in this series with this batting unit. I can't put finger on one thing that stands out for Australia.

DUke ball has been exhibitingg this behavior for a while. Even we had that benefit. Just that these guys are too experienceed to set up bastmen patiently.
vvvslaxman Posted July 28, 2023 Posted July 28, 2023 With current cricket ball's state someone like Zaheer khan would have had field day
