R!TTER Posted July 2, 2023 Posted July 2, 2023 He is but that's not necessarily because Jadeja is worse, he just has a different role especially in this English team! Though you could also add that in high pressure games no one does better than Stokes in recent years - no one comes close

Average is same as other two. He also failed in Asia including flat roads of Pak and UAE. He is better but the difference is much smaller than opposite difference in bowling quality

He is better but the difference is much smaller than opposite difference in bowling quality Bowling wise also, I think between Stokes and Shakib, there is marginally any difference.Jadeja is comfortably better of the three with bowl but he is also weakest of the three with bat although he is catching up. Stokes for me gets significant point for the skill set that he possesses with bat, this guy is capable of playing ATG calibre knocks with bat and has played two already. Shakib is not capable of playing such knocks with bat and neither is Jadeja. Edited July 2, 2023 by Majestic
R!TTER Posted July 2, 2023 Posted July 2, 2023 Only in England though, he has failed in Oz thrice & India twice now!
Majestic Posted July 2, 2023 Author Posted July 2, 2023 The stage matters. Jadeja is at peak of his batsmanship and had two chances to win a WTC Final(2021 and 2023) but failed in both. This will go against him and his batting. He can hit a hundred in Windies now but won't be regarded as the best all rounder of this era inspite of that. That would ultimately go to Stokes because he has done it in all formats and multiple great knocks in tests as well.

Jaddu has saved India many times after collapses. He just lacks the 5th gear which is not that important in Tests.

He hasnt played any WTC Finals nor scored in tough conditions.

That knock tells us about Stokes ability with bat. Jaddu is not capable of replicating Headingley 2019 and Lords 2023. What Stokes can do, even Virat Kohli can't do. Edited July 2, 2023 by Majestic

It tells he has high peaks but is inconsistent Jaddu might not score big tons but has scored following 68 at Lords 2014 86 at Oval 2018 after a collapse 81 in Sydney 2019 57 at Melbourne 2021 (very crucial partnership with Rahane) 56 at Trent Bridge 2021 100 in 5th Test in England last year thats good consistency in SENA for a no. 7-8 cricspirit 1

Stokes is far better allrounder than Jadeja.

Jadeja literally is equal to two players in home conditions. If you discount his bowling due to conditions, he averages 40 with bat in same conditions too. What has Stokes done with ball in Asia even when he was fit? Or even with bat? All Stokes has is a 5th gear which makes him attractive. cricspirit 1
Gollum Posted July 2, 2023 Posted July 2, 2023 Stokes has failed every single time in the SC. Even in Aus he has been abysmal. Couldn't stop WI away. Great impact player but not as great as he is made out to be in tests. In white ball I'd argue he is a bit underrated, definitely better than what his stats reflect. cricspirit, Lord and Nikola 1 2
