Australians don't put all their newcomers out there - but an attack of Starc, Lance Morris, Spencer Johnson and Cummins is seriously good. Johnson will make his debut vs South Africa. Two left arm quicks and two right arm.

Cummins is not a good odi bowler and starc is getting old. Johnson is unknown. Lance is mediocre in odi. Like a umran.

If anything india will have the best attack if they pick the following

Bumrah siraj prasidh and harshit. Or tyagi if ready.

Looks unlikely that Fatman Sharma would survive Shaheen's initial spell.  Even if he survives, I see him accumulating lots of dot balls and maiden overs in the PP.   I suggest he should bat left handed vs Pak. Or else he would be all at sea.  LOL

Just wondering. Sure indian batsmen up top are bad due to quota selections. What is stopping our bowlers from learning to bat? They think they are gods lol?

You job is to be prepared. Every bowler must learn how to power hit and defend vs bouncers etc. Only our bowlers don't know how to bat or slog. It should be mandatory.

I hv been saying this for decades.  Kuldeep's batting has not improved at all in 6 yrs of intl cricket.   TM and Captain dont take these things seriously.   Every other team has batting till no.9 or 10.

Bumrah ok can get away with zero batting. Ideally not but ok. 11 and 10 not being able to bat or slog ok. Fine. But some hitting ability should be there for number 9. Need power shot hitting ability and have to be able to face bouncers etc.

And number 8 should be like a proper all rounder almost. No excuses.

Because of this issue we are always compromised in sena. We can never play our top 4 best bowlers unless it's a green top cause we have no number 8 or 9 who can bat efficiently for sena conditions.

Bawa and hangerakar should be backed.

M Starc bowls at 145+.   Still he can hang around with the bat and can even smash huge sixes if needed.   Same with M Wood and Shaheen.  So, its not impossible.  A pacer can hv an off day.  So, it's the other dept (batting) where he can compensate something for his poor bowling.   It is this aspect which differentiates a champion team (like Eng, Aus) from a mediocre team (like Ind) in whiteball cricket these days.  Not sure when our TM will start taking this seriously.

In 2003 world cup  two matches where Andy Bichel stepped up

Bowling 7 for 20 &  When Australia was all but out at 135/8 chasing 205 He made 34 runs in 36 balls combined with Bevan to pull off an impossible win

Another match vs NZ

Australia was 84/7 batting at 9 made 64 runs took Australia to 208/9 then took 1/15

We are talking about ATG Australian side. This side had 3 collapses in that world cup. Someone always stepped up. Against Pakistan Symonds stepped up when they were 146/5. On the other hand India is hoping to have near perfect game every single time by carrying this one-dimensional hacks.

Kuldeep was a very decent batsman at the u19 level but hasnt developed that facet at all.

He can be a useful tail ender in tests since he has a defensive game. For white ball cricket nowadays a biffer with little defensive technique is much more preferable.

On patta pitches. He is a genuine test bowler but he has potential in odi too. One off games don't mean much. Give him a decent run and we shall see. He has a nasty bouncer and gets good uplift.
