Looks quite strong on paper. 

Balance might be an issue if they play both Shamsi and Maharaj on turning tracks.

Looks like more than a decent squad  but nobody is talking about them. Most experts and fans are predicting England as the tournament favorites followed by India , Australia and giving an outside chance to Pakistan but not many backers for SA..

 

Three quality Pacers in Ngidi, Rabada, Nortje. 

 

Two quality spinners for Indian conditions in Maharaj and Shamsi. 

 

Batting line up consisting of Q De Kock, RVD, Markram,Klassen and Miller. 

 

The only weak link is the specialist captain Bavuma who doesn't even deserve to be there forget about leading the team. 

 

Don't see an All Rounder like Klusener or even a Morris. 

 

They are still considered chokers who lack the consistency required to win the tournament hence have less hype around them despite a decent set of players.

Jansen does not add much as an allrounder. Weak squad.   That SA lineup needs both Wiaan Mulder and Senuran Muthuswamy instead of someone like Maharaj who can't bat. 

 

No batting depth whatsoever.  Better than ours and that's about it.  Too many pacers even for my liking. Ngidi has bowled trash for 3 years straight. Jansen should bat no higher than 8 and should primarily be a pacer. 

 

Ideally, both Maharaj and Ngidi should be out and Mulder and Muthuswamy in .  Shamsi is out of form as well but he's a wrist spinner and they don't have any options so he can stay.

Won't make it to semis. Making Bavuma captain loses whole dressing room. He doesnt even deserve to play.

 

Could have made Rabada or Maharaj as captain if they wanted to make a colored one.

Bavuma is pretty good in ODI's to be honest. Has played a few really good match-winning innings. He is terrible in T20's and Tests.  They just don't have the batting depth with Jansen coming in at 7 and Maharaj at 8.

Best XI if Bavuma can be excluded. Magala / Coetzee lengthen batting a bit. Have to drop Shamsi as Maharaj is a better bat

I bet Faf can still perform better than Quota Captain Bavuma whose there only due to his skin colour. This is another reason why SA Cricket will never progress when the team has to meet certain diversity standards before merit.

Bavuma has developed into a fine batsman, he used to be a weak link byt not anymore and I think he has the respect of all the players. 

Would be nice to see a Black captain lift the world cup after 44 years.

What happened to Janneman Malan? 

He was their next Big Thing. 

 

Also Brevis and stubbs are only there in t20. 

 

Tbf the batting line-up looks solid.
