Since you all noted that you are confused by this, let me explain:

 

I was projecting things I was seeing in some of my WhatsApp groups (and maybe here on ICF):

 

The same people who had been berating the pre-WC Indian players for all the "bad qualities" including being "woke", unpatriotic etc when they were not doing too well ... were now suddenly pedestalling them when they were killing it in the WC. And when they were tonking the NZ bowlers.

 

Then back to berating them with the same old comments when Mitchell and Williamson were taking control, including vile comments about Shami when he dropped the catch. Then pedestalling them again as they clawed back. 

 

It is amusing how our opinion of people changes depending on whether they make us look good or bad.

they are humans and I don’t share all the values with them either.  But they are on our side. We have to support them no matter what.

True. My main gripe has been that they are hanging on for too long and keeping new players from becoming established in the team.  But they've proven that they still have it in them.

I understand the under performing stuff but once the tournament started I would support them until it ends.  Then we can criticize.
