R!TTER Posted June 30, 2024 Posted June 30, 2024 It was about best overall, not just best in LO cricket was it?

Gollum Posted June 30, 2024 Posted June 30, 2024 Hope he can bowl freely in future KOs. I want his redemption in next year's WTC final. Sandz 1
Gollum Posted June 30, 2024 Posted June 30, 2024 We are so blessed to have Bumrah and Shami at the same time. Like Bumrah here, Shami deserved the 2023 WC. BacktoCricaddict, express bowling, Need4Speed and 1 other 1 3

People underestimate the greatness of Ashwin. He the biggest match winner in tests for India. It is due to one dimensional nature of Indian team, Ashwin has missed out on so many away tests.Where he sure would have done more than Jadeja. Don't belittle Ashwin.

Don't belittle Ashwin. Away Tests >> home Tests. That Jadeja took his place in away Tests says everything. Just assumption he;d have done better, both have similar overall record in SENA and Jaddu did better in batting/fielding. Ashwin won more Tests than Bumrah simply because he played more. Longevity as I said. It's not about belittling. Ofcourse Ashwin is a giant. But when comparing, one side will always be lesser. express bowling 1

Ashwin proved he is better away bowler than Jadeja even in latest Australian series 2021. Jadeja the bowler was out bowled even in recent England series. 150 wickets vs 500 is a long way Longetivity is a factor also. Edited July 1, 2024 by putrevus

In Aus both did well with both bat and ball. Yes Longevity is in his favour. However if I can only play one of them with no knowledge or opposition or conditions, Bumrah would be safer bet over Ashwin the bowler.

No Bumrah is not safe bet over Ashwin in India. Ashwin was machine before his body started betraying him and Bumrah is in his prime now. Ashwin took 150 wickets for fun.Ashwin missed out so many tests in SENA .Longevity is also very very important. Ashwin in his prime in India will always be more important than Bumrah in Asia. You don't need Bumrah to win in Asia as Ashwin and Jadeja have proved for last decade. Edited July 1, 2024 by putrevus

It is not even close.Ashwin's batting has gone down and Jadeja as improved his batting. So if Bumrah is not safe bet in Asia, how is he better bowler than Ashwin. India play more tests in Asia than away. Ashwin will be first name on the Indian team in Asian conditions over any other player.

Most good spinners will win us matches in India/Asia. Jadeja has done so too, even Axar. We have been winning in India long before Ashwin debuted. Only overseas you need quality pacers which we always struggled with, hence overseas losses. Bumrah has already won us games there and still has enough time. Ultimate_Game 1

I never said Asian conditions only matter, India play more matches in Asia. So Bumrah cannot become a better bowler than Ashwin with him atleast reach 300 plus wickets.

Ashwin became best by experience and longevity. But we'll continue to produce good enough spinners for Indian pitches. Kuldeep for one is ready to take it forward. Let me put it this way Ashwin the bowler will be replaced far easily than Bumrah.
Gollum Posted July 1, 2024 Posted July 1, 2024 For all conditions, Bumrah and Shami before any Indian spinner for me. Don't forget Shami bhai. Lord 1
R!TTER Posted July 1, 2024 Posted July 1, 2024 Ashwin's not the best spinner in India ever, not even close! I'm using the 2020 cutoff point because Jadeja didn't play on the 3 spin friendly surfaces vs Eng 2021 where Axar was Bradman's pop with ball Primary team India Opposition team Australia or England or New Zealand or South Africa Home or away home venue Start of match date between 1 Jan 2010 and 31 Dec 2020 Qualifications wickets taken greater than or equal to 100 Page 1 of 1 Showing 1 - 2 of 2 First Previous Next Last Return to query menu Cleared query menu Overall figures Player Span Mat Inns Overs Mdns Runs Wkts BBI BBM Ave Econ SR 5 10 RA Jadeja 2012-2019 24 47 1200.5 341 2657 128 7/48 10/154 20.75 2.21 56.2 7 1 R Ashwin 2012-2019 29 57 1549.1 357 4182 183 7/59 13/140 22.85 2.69 50.7 19 6 This if you exclude Ashwin's one bad series in 2012 home vs Eng, still you can see who's at the top Primary team India Opposition team Australia or England or New Zealand or South Africa Home or away home venue Start of match date between 1 Jan 2013 and 31 Dec 2020 Qualifications wickets taken greater than or equal to 100 Page 1 of 1 Showing 1 - 2 of 2 First Previous Next Last Return to query menu Cleared query menu Overall figures Player Span Mat Inns Overs Mdns Runs Wkts BBI BBM Ave Econ SR 5 10 RA Jadeja 2013-2019 23 45 1130.5 307 2540 125 7/48 10/154 20.32 2.24 54.2 7 1 R Ashwin 2013-2019 23 45 1223.0 289 3209 151 7/59 13/140 21.25 2.62 48.5 16 5 Lord 1
Gollum Posted July 1, 2024 Posted July 1, 2024 For home pitches, Kumble is a contender to be our best ever. He mostly operated alone in the 90s in a much weaker Indian team.
