Harsh Thakor
How great was this 2023 World cup.Close to best of all? This edition had some enthralling tussles and cricketing skill taken to zones not transcended. Perhaps we missed out on teams like Australia,New Zealand South Africa ,Sri Lanka and England ,playing as they did in earlier tournaments at their best. The Aussies and the Proteas displayed vulnerability in departments ,the former in middle order batting and the latter in run chases and bowling at death. In my opinion India did not play as genuinely a powerful opposition,as some great champions of yesteryears . India ,was the only team that played consistently well.Every other side, faltered at some stage. There was hardly anything between the 4 teams who, finished behind India. Sides generally displayed vulnerability in run chases ,bar India. Afghanistan were the moral heroes, considering they almost qualified for the semi-final,beating some very powerful sides, and lost to Australia, after looking to have sealed the game. The bowling of Mohammad Shami, batting of Virat Kohli,Rohit Sharma,Mitchell and Quentin De Cock, manifested standards at their very best. We hardly witnessed great all-round performances.Teams also rarely overcame crunch situations,to turn matches. In this edition we missed out the games that went to the wire ,with hardly a whisker seperating sides.. Edited November 18, 2023 by Harsh Thakor Link to comment
vvvslaxman
Definitely one of the best with no rain playing spoil sport, with great variety of pitches. But i am disappointed with the outfield in some of the places. BCCI has to address it asap. This is unacceptable. Link to comment
The Hound
Top 4 decided by third week was lame. The Gulf in quality between india >>> aus/sa and others was also Disappointing . Ranvir 1 Link to comment
Khota
If India wins, this would be the greatest ever. The most dominant team in the history of sports winning is par for the course. Link to comment
First class
For me it was the best ever and has injected a new life in ODI cricket . Link to comment
Real McCoy
No majid kahn in the pak lineup. has to be the weakest ever world cup in known history Link to comment
Chakdephatte
The variety of pitches we have, we have seen everything. Early seam movement, reverse swing, rough outside for spinners, jadeja-zampa ripping through, fastest powerplay starts etc. Can any other country offer such varying conditions? Link to comment
srgadjon
The pitches were very good, outfields in some grounds not so good, also some teams like England, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh just didnt turn up which made their games one sided and boring. Was great to see Afghanistan do well. India was the best team in all departments by far. Considering the scale and challenges, BCCI did a good job in organizing barring a few hiccups, which are par for the course. Overall, a big success IMO. Link to comment
EnterTheVoid
This might turn into a forgettable WC. India played so well throughout the tournament. And they seemed to have stumbled at the final hurdle. Link to comment
