It's simple.

Australia have won 6 world cups.

So their batsmen, bowlers, captain, allrounders, managers, coach, fielders, ballboy, champiwallah etc  ALL OF THEM are better than anyone from any other country.

AUSTRALIA is the supreme team in the World and their players are GOAT. All other countrymen are at least 2 tiers below any Australian cricketer.

Ponting sr is 80

Still 6 point below sachin’s SR and there is difference of 100 match around between them. So even in that era when rest all Indian batters were playing some 70-75 sr sachin’s SR was 86. Now compare ponting SR with some of his own  teammates like Gilchrist , Hayden, Martin, Slater.

Bat avg In away

vs NZ - Sachin 39 - Ponting 49

vs Pak - Sachin 37  - Ponting 97

Vs SA - Sachin 25 - Ponting 44

vs SL - Sachin 41 - Ponting 45

vs Eng - Sachin 40 - Ponting 44

vs WI - Sachin 54 - Ponting 27

vs aus - Sachin 31   vs Ind - ponting 47

Sachin stats inflated due to most matches played in Asia..

In 2000s decade there isn't much difference between them

From Sachin's debut till 31 Dec 2002

Sachin : Avg 44.40, SR 86.56

Ponting : Avg 41.43, SR 76.50

From 01 Jan 2003 to 31 Dec 2007

Sachin : Avg 44.6, SR 82.84

Ponting : Avg 47.8, SR 85.3

From 01 Jan 2008 till retirement

Sachin : Avg 48.xx, SR 91.xx

Ponting : Avg 35.xx, SR 79.29

Ponting has only upper hand in between 2003-07.

I have seen both play since start of their career till end and i know whom to choose if i would like one to play for me. No because Sachin is Indian, Australia have produced so many great batter and i know for sure i wont choose Ponting for my odi team if i have to choose one from aus.

Stats is for em nerds.

Sample answer: NO.

Shall provide a detailed statistical treatise later.

Think , I saw a podcast on Yuvi. He said, Bhai Australians were different beast alltogether. Do your best, sab kuchh shaee hai, but still you loose. You have hit a wall.

Sachin and Lara were two players who during there time were only ones , gave their Team a chance against Aussies.

As far as Stats are concerned, People need to compare stats of Pakistani batters against England in England. Most likely on average, Pakistani batters have done better than Indian batters
