It impacts team.  It is an important marquee series. It is happening in India.  When he comes back somebody will have to vacate their place. Same question was asked about ROhit sharma also. Even Bumrah when he was ready for IPL not Tests. Kohli is no exception. If you think family business is more important just retire from Tests. Nobody cares. You can't skip an important series and come back for a lesser important series.

It's on selectors to drop him or not.

 

It's his perogative to pick his family as priority.

 

He was unceremoniously removed from captaincy and Rohit was put in for all formats. The loser Rohit failed in batting, fielding and captaincy but not a peep on his non-performance but on the guy who is not even in the team suddenly accusations are raised.

 

I don't even like Kohli but why should he go out of his way to play when he anyway was removed from captaincy by same selectors to prop up an old has been like Rohit with no plan for getting youngsters to prepare for WC?

 

They brought tired old players for last WC again.

Bingo. It's not a serious environment geared for success. The empty tournament trophy cabinet for over a decade shows that. 

 

It's become a fiefdom where personal records and milestones are more important than team goals. Pick and choose when you wish to play. And in your absence ensure mediocrity is selected so that can walk back in.

Yes it impacts the team.But you cannot hold it against any player.Family comes first for any player.You are no one to dicate what he should and should not do regarding his family affairs.

 

BCCI has given him persmission.You are being stupid and saying as if Kohli is avoiding this series.This guy played nonstop all three formats for decade.

 

 If he is good enough to be selected then he will play, you don't need to tell him to retire.

This is the absolute Madness of Indian Cricket in a nutshell.

 

There is no repercussions for failure. Just look how bad Kohli was performing in Test Cricket a few years back where even Ashwin was outperforming him as a batsman.

 

Kohli is a cancer of the Indian Cricket Team, its only fanboys/teenage girls that cannot fathom nor understand this.

 

Imagine the arrogance of Kohli with no preparation wants to make himself available for potentially the 5th Test of the series.

Given its not a physical injury nor mental health issues, I suspect its to do with his wife, wouldnt surprise me if she has health issues/miscarried which is the reason why Kohli has skipped the English series.

 

Of course he will be 100% available for the IPL its his meal ticket for his brand, he will shamelessly play even if the personal issues are still present.

I remember when SRT lost his father and returned home to India from the WC, only for his mother to tell him to go back to England.

 

If I am not mistaken I think Siraj or one of the Indian fast bowlers in Australia had recently lost their father and decided to stay with the team.

 

One of the primary reasons that Kohli abandoned the series is because he is wealthy and two is that his place in the side is absolutely guaranteed. If either of these were an issue he would be playing for India.

the only players who should be choosing and playing at will are our bowlers. I mean for years we have entered tests with four bowlers - srinath prasad kumble broke their shoulders . Bumrah , Shami etc have won us test series after test series . Ashwin and Jadeja have been star all rounders with least tantrums.

BCCI should make it a rule if youre unavailable for Team India in a series prior to IPL, you are forced to miss the IPL.
