this is a very weak Aus batting lineup compared to what we faced in 2000s and 2010s. their bowling is good, but on the wane too. Should be possible to beat them in Aus if we get selections right.

Hazelwood is far better than Jason Gillespie. Nagpur pitch which was green  is where he picked up 9 wickets. It just shows how overrated Fab four or five were when it came to facing quality fast bowling. 

 

Ganguly wet his pants and declared himself unfit.Other could not handle a fast bowling attack which had Kasprowicz a third bowler.

I disagree with this notion. Hazelwood is a nothing bowler outside bouncy conditions.

I don't think so, his spell in second innings Banglore test in 2017 when none of of ther bowlers including Nathan Lyon were ineffective.That spell was good enough for series win but their batting flopped in front of Ashwin.

 

The pitches he played in India were bunsen burners.

Our bowlers are better in Asian conditions. I mean our pacers. Especially at the time.

 

That was just one off spell anyway. It's a fluke. Guys record is terrible in most places outside Australia.

That was an up & down pitch, on days 3-4 it was staying consistently low. Umesh got SS lbw just like that, cheap imitation McGrath did nothing in the next game at Ranchi nor at Dharamshala.

He us an utter fodder outside Australia mostly. Even in bouncy SA he was trash

Gillepsie was much quicker. Also he is much quicker of the deck. If i remember right he outbowled even Mcgrath. Any batsmen with vulnerability against inswinger he would be all over you much like Damien Fleming the other guy.

hazelwood is not imitation McG. he is more like damien fleming, who was very good and underrated.

 

stuart clark was imitation McG, and a very good imitation too, though obviously not as good as the original.

I remember back in 2004 series here they were getting reverse as early as 10(15?) overs or so & massive reverse at times! We were doing it too of course but I wonder if that was kind of through dubious means

Actually he was my favorite Aussie bowler back then more than Mcgrath. He had that lovely energy through to the crease. Only Brett Lee had more energy.  Also incredible stamina. Josh after a spell or two will bowl like Mukesh kumar speedwise.

This is a match that Indian cricketers should watch and learn what not to do while defending totals in SENA. How little period of casualness can  lose you a match. Slowing down the game, having fielders precisely is something we should master.
