Good move (and I was wrong, @Gollum was right):  Going in with only 2 seamers. Kuldeep and Ashwin took care of the Eng batsmen.

 

Bad move: The 2 seamers are Bumrah and Siraj. Should've been Bumrah and Akashdeep. I have defended Siraj here a lot but I think he could've used a break to get himself together a bit.

One could sense Siraj would be a let down with ball. Also Akshdeep is the best pacer against Crawley in this series even better than Bumrah as he hits that nagging length. Everybody was late against Akshdeep as ball just zipped of the pitch for him. But they are backing him based on seniority.  His SA heroics and Asia cup final heroics will help him safeguard his position for sometime.

I feel a little disappointed like a few others because I wanted to see him build on that debut in conditions that are even more friendly.

He is not the first Indian guy in recent times to be dropped right after an impressive performance. Kishan, Kuldeep to name a couple

Not that disappointed with Akashdeep missing out on this game.  I am glad he is ahead of Mukesh in the pecking order and thats a big plus moving forward.

Minor quibble: 

Akash Deep = seamer. Akshdeep (a) Nath is a middle-order bat for UP.

Akashdeep is ahead of Mukesh on slower pitches.  We don't know the pecking order on faster pitches or pacer-friendly ones.

Mo Siraj is a total lottery bowler. Very hard to predict where he will click. I think he needs to add more variation in order to bring more consistency on most surfaces.

Akashdeep should have played ahead of Siraj.

 

Someone makes an impressive debut and momentum is on his side. Should have been allowed to build on that momentum and cement his place in Team India. 

 

Siraj looks totally out of form and is lacking effort too. Just going through the motions.

Not just variations but more effort too. Just floating the ball up at 127 to 137 k won't do.

He has an ineffecient bowling action. He relies a lot on rhythm and bit of assistance. That is why he is not consistent. Akashdeep has a perfect action for hit the deck bowling.

I feel he would have given us at least 2 breakthroughs yday in that first session. Hr made the ball talk on a much more docile surface the previous game.
