4) Dube/Tilak/some batter who can bowl

5) Parag

6) Rinku

7) Ashutosh

and four bowlers: harshit at 8, boomer at 9, kuldeep at 10, and mayank yadav at 11.

I'll go with the following...

Abhishek

Jaiswal

Sanju Samson (he's good at 3)

SKY

Parag

Rinku

Ashutosh/Pandya/Dube

If we're comfortable letting Abhishek and Parag bowl 4 overs, then will go with Ashutosh at 7 as he's in form and you need in-form hitters in T20s. Else select Pandya or Dube so a combination of Pandya/Dube along with Abhishek and Parag can complete the 5th bowler's quota. Pitches in WI are on the slowish side and help spinners so likes of Abhishek and Parag should be able to get some overs in.

Abhishek SHarma

Jaiswal

SKY

Samson

Parag

Rinku

Dube

Pandya (8th batsman)

Rana

Kuldeep

Booms

THis way you have batting till 9.  Bowling is a massive compromise. But that is the way England won the last world T20.

what will pandy do at 8? can't bat, can't bowl, can field, but always get injured. utter waste of a spot.

He must bowl 4 overs. that is the assumption. If he can't replace with a bowler who can bat well. Deshpande can bat, Thakur can bat. Bowling poor. But how poor compared to specialist bowler who can't bat. That is the question. Siraj is equally poor plus he can't bat. Arshdeep can't bat either.  Only advantage he is a left armer.  He needs some batting skills. Preferably six hitting skills.

that's why I prefer my XI from above.

Jaiswal

Rohit(c) - Is batting with intent.

Abhishek

Samson (wk)

SKY

Parag

Rinku

Kuldeep

Bumrah

Mayank

Harshit Rana(?)

- In my XI, only one slot is up for grabs, who is Harshit Rana.

- Abhishek at 3. He is a fantastic hitter against spin in the middle.

- Strictly no Dube. This guy has serious wekeaness against pace and hard length.

- Mayank is my trump card in bowling.

- Abhishek, Parag and Jaiswal to be used as 5th bowler.

All the batsmen in my XI are equally good against pace and spin. That's my most important criteria and that's how it should be.

Maybe bar 1-2 most names I am seeing don’t give me confidence in international pressure games against top quality attacks in more tricky conditions.

If we had thought the same way back in 2007, a team comprising Uthappa, Joginder Sharma, DK, Yusuf Pathan, a young Rohit making his debut, a debutant captain in Dhoni, RP Singh, and Sreesanth wouldn't have inspired much confidence as well. But they won the whole thing! Safer bet would've been to go with likes of Tendulkar, Ganguly, Dravid, Zaheer etc. and we know how that would've ended.

We beat Aus in Aus on the backs of our youngsters with likes of Siraj, Nattu, Washington Sundar, Shardul Thakur making key contributions led by Pant. Surely our youngsters can handle T20 stage. In India if a youngster comes through, it's a given talent is there. They simply need the right backing and support. Back these youngsters and they'll surprise you. Worst case is they get into the top 4 and then get knocked out but that's not different from what "experience" has gotten us so far. I say try a different approach and at the very least, it would be fun to watch them play a fearless brand of cricket :agree:

it may be that most are hacks or unproven. however, in T20s, neither of these words is a negative, because current form and specific skill sets are mostly what matter, along with suitable temperament.

Our 2007 T20 WC team had several duds or unprovens, along with some number of established players
