“Markande wouldn’t have been hit for consecutive sixes had he bowled to Virat”: Harbhajan brings star batter’s poor record against spinners in focus

Virat Kohli The moment he tried to be aggressive against the spinners, the outcome was his dismissal.

Virat Kohli is working on his weakness against spinners in white-ball cricket, but the veteran hasn’t got the expected results. The problem becomes more concerning in T20 cricket, where there are only 120 balls available to set the total or chase down a target. He goes in a shell and relies on singles and doubles against the tweakers.

The moment he tried to be aggressive against the spinners, the outcome was his dismissal. In RCB’s last game against Sunrisers Hyderabad, former India player Harbhajan Singh focused on Virat’s weakness against the spinners.

Rajat Patidar, who hit 50 runs off 20 balls, went hard after the spinners. He hit four sixes in one over of Mayank Markande, who conceded 42 runs from his three overs.

Harbhajan said that Mayank should have given a single to Patidar and bowled more to Virat to avoid getting hit for sixes.

“Rajat Patidar was impressive and proved the management’s decision to back him despite failures was correct. He hit Mayank Markande for big hits. The bowler should have shown smartness by giving a single to Rajat and bowling to Virat Kohli, who doesn’t hit spinners,” Harbhajan Singh said.

Kohli took 43 balls to score 51 runs, and his strike rate of 118 was again questioned by cricket experts. Rajat and cameos from other batters took the team’s total to 206/7 in 20 overs.

The bowlers bowled with a plan and restricted the dangerous batting line-up of Sunrisers to 171/8.

Everyone has cottoned onto this now. Lol.
