Until we get rid of this superstar and seniority culture, we will continue to make semis and finals but lose when it matters.

That culture is part of India - everywhere.

For example in Chennai, a 43 year old Dhoni is celebrated for everything while the young ones like Hangargekar rot on the bench. The Chennai fans approve of this and approve of Thala and everything he does.

What is the BCCI supposed to do? They follow the diktats of the fans. This board may not like the oldies but the rest of the country does......

Difference is that CSK is a privately owned franchise and do as they please. If Srinivasan himself decides to play, he can. Same with Mumbai  Indians where Ambani Jr. can decide to play if it strikes his fancy just like Tendulkar Jr. But Indian team shouldn't be like that. Unfortunately it won't change and that's the reason we'll always under-achieve at the global stage.

True - but I am talking about the fans and not the management. The same Chennai fans are Indian fans. Trust me - they would love to see Thala back in the Indian team.

The problem is some delusional fans have unrealistic expectations and overrate the talent in domestic cricket.

Australia did not win anything after 2015 world cup  but they were playing pretty much same core team before their breakthru in 2021 world t20.

Then they got to face the mighty Indian bowlers in two finals in same year. The same set of losers in Cummins and co suddenly have become big winners.

Changes don't have to be drastic, reloading can be done by adding one or two youngsters for every major tournament. Indian selectors have not supplemented their core players with new talent thruout the decade.

Only two things about this-

1) 2015 to 2021 is 6 years. 2011 to 2024 is 13 and still counting....

2) Australia has won 6 ODI WCs - 1987, 1999, 2003, 2007, 2015, 2023. India has won 2 - 1983 and 2011.

The fan impatience is understandable.... the need to try drastically different things is also understandable given the lack of results for the last 13 years.

I don't think drastic changes are needed at all.

I understand fans being impatient. But they also need to understand sometime luck is also needed to win.India won two ICC tournament by less than 10 runs in 2007 and 2013.

Second IMO not eveyone who does well in domestic circuit is going to do well in international cricket.IMO fans need stop turning players who are not selected into Bradmans.

Pakistan won CT 2017, do you want India to be Pakistan or SL which have won ICC trophies after 2013.

It took 2011 to win India's second world cup after 1983. India certainly had stronger teams during that period but they failed to even reach semis in 1999 and 2007.

Personally I feel selectors have failed the core team members by not injecting atleast one  youngster into the team every major tournament .

See this language is tricky.

1987 - won WC title

1992 - lost WC title

1996 - failed to win WC title

1999 - won WC title

2003 - won WC title

2007 - won WC title

2011 - lost WC title

2015- won WC title

2019 - lost WC title

2023 - won WC title

they failed to win just one title between 2015 and 2023.     This hardly compares with India......

Including new players is fine - but it is not happening and the core members are responsible for it as well as the selectors. Kohli is to be lauded for promoting Bumrah when he was not "the thing". But the incessant selection of Jadeja irks some people and it is not just the selectors doing it.

This makes people even more upset and impatient and sometimes irrational.

Eng's batting is great but bowling is garbage

Archer and Rashid are ok - Topley/Jordan is so-so.... Wood as usual has pace but lacks control. The fifth bowler is between Livingstone and Moeen.

They are not too bad. If they make the semis and Wood has a couple of good games then they can be quite good.
