rollingstoned Posted July 2, 2024 Posted July 2, 2024 For Indian fans it will naturally be memorable because their team won it but quality wise what did you think of this tournament? The US leg esp NY had very poor pitches, many big teams went out early, rain was a constant threat and the surfaces were not batting friendly throught although that probably ended up working out for us. By the end it seemed like there were travel related issues too because connections between different Carribbean islands are not great and certain fans couldn't make last minute reservations. Tbh if we hadn't won it it would have been a tournament that I wouldn't have rated too highly.
Gollum Posted July 2, 2024 Posted July 2, 2024 Best part here was bowlers weren't reduced to the role of bowling machine.
Bigg Brother Posted July 2, 2024 Posted July 2, 2024 Good win but No way near 2007 triumph. Downtown 1
kosingh Posted July 2, 2024 Posted July 2, 2024 For people who were too young or not born for 2007 and 2011, this will be the most memorable. Just like my dad talks about about 1983. That must have been something else.
kosingh Posted July 2, 2024 Posted July 2, 2024 What was good to see was how much this meant to the players. There was some talk that players care about ipl title more than WC....clearly not true. Ultimate_Game 1

putrevus Posted July 2, 2024 Posted July 2, 2024 Nothing beats 50 over world cup. That is real world cup.

If BCCI cared about titles, they would move the WTC final to an Asian venue instead of keeping it in Eng every time, which is a huge disadvantage for us and favors the SENA countries. And they wouldn't schedule T20 WCs and WTC finals right after a 2 month exhausting IPL. And biggest of all, they would actually schedule India's matches at venues where toss doesn't have an undue advantage (e.g., WC2023 final at Ahmedabad), or schedule India's matches when dew impacts the result just to cater to TV audience. If BCCI really cared about the trophies they would make sure that at least the knockouts games are day games not impacted by toss or dew. And the knockouts are played at venues where we have the advantage (e.g., Chennai, Nagpur or Eden Gardens). Same with WTC Final at Kolkatta or Chennai instead of England every time.
cowboysfan Posted July 2, 2024 Posted July 2, 2024 pretty good ,the tough pitches gave weaker teams a chance.
Number Posted July 3, 2024 Posted July 3, 2024 Always liked low scoring thrillers. So I liked it although initially I wasn't excited for it. Afghanistan gave some real cliffhangers vs Aus and BD. As did SA in almost all of their matches. I would say from the entertainment side, it was a good world cup.
