Gill should open... He has good record as a ODI opener.

Wish they're retired from shorter formats altogether. They would be too old for the next WC in 2027 so let the youngsters have their chance...

Parag is more of a T20 player at the moment. Sai Sudarshan has the game for ODIs at no. 3. He's the sort of player who'll strike around 90-100 like Kohli, and others can bat around him. He's not an ideal player for T20s and wish our selectors see that.

 

IMO Indian selectors can't differentiate between formats and have a hard time selecting the right players for the right format.

Has long been groomed I think.  Don't think BCCI is sold on Pant as keeper bat too.

Kela is a safe bet for them.. as Pandua's fitness is iffy

I thought we would have enough sense to move away from likes of KL. He's the embodiment of the phrase "An army of sheep, led by a lion, is better than an army of lions, led by a sheep"

 

He's a mental midget and we don't need to go back to him in any format. There're enough batsmen and talent around for us to not go back to him. Make Shreyas Iyer the captain if you've to but no need to bring in KL Rahul.

Don't think so.  He captained SA ODIs after the World Cup. 

 

Batted well in that Test in SA before getting injured 

 

I don't think KL stocks are down at all.  After his comeback from injury , he did well in the Asia Cup vs Pakistan and except the final he did well in the World Cup as well 

 

Hes not seen as a pure batter in this format.

Ditto. I don't think they are comfortable giving Pant 50 overs to keep yet 

 

KL is the only option for keeper bat unless they back Sanju.

Don't mind Iyer. He has the game to accelerate and bats with intent. He won't potter around like KL Rahul. In ODIs Gill & Iyer are pretty good IMO along with likes of Jaiswal, Sai Sudarshan, Rinku, Pant and Pandya. That's a pretty decent batting lineup.

Another 'Thakela' inning likely to unfold from 'Kela' shortly in SL.  Indian fans should be mentally prepared for a 50 run from 150 balls type of inning.....
