Nishant dev wins 71kg pre QF 3-2

To face Mexican in QF who also won 3-2 in pre QF.

Nikhat zareen pre QF against higher seed Chinese today at 2:30 pm.

Lovelina also through to QF in 75 kg. It will be tough for her. At his point, Nishant, boy from karnal, is our best bet. @Number

Yeah, Nishant and Amit got easier side of draws but Amit still messed it up.

The mexican is also a rising star but Nishant is capable.

Our record vs australia and england is atrocious. @Gollum

Hockey. Worst vs england. Why?

They don't even win any Olympic medals or world titles.

Did they thrash us in amateur era like they did in cricket back in 40s to 50s.

Cause englans record post 80s is very even with us in cricket. They took advantage of weak era.

Priyanka Goswami 20 km race walker, her personal best is better than Tokyo's gold.

But conditions matter a lot as her personal best was in Feb in India and Tokyo was humid like hell in August.

Will be happy with a top 10 finish.

People don't keep accurate records of hockey. No statsguru.

Our record against Aus is really bad. Against Eng we are comfortably ahead.

atrocious record is it's true ,we even lost to gb recently in fih pro series

Wrong stats, made up numbers, dodgy site.

Late hockey historian BG Joshi had the correct numbers. Only statistician who can be trusted. His blog/website has disappeared since his death.

We were comfortably ahead of England last time I checked (pandemic time). Worst record against Aus, then Ger, then Dutch, then Pak. Against all others we have above 1 W/L.

Dhyan Chand's team handed out some epic phaintas to Aus but those records aren't counted, they were given exhibition game status.

But Eng/Aus cricket records from that era is counted.

GB in Olympics, Eng in other tourneys.

Argentina, Belgium, Spain, South Korea also missing.

We also haven't played that many games against Eng like you showed before. Against Aus, Pak (even Dutch) more because of regular test series for most part. Against Eng/GBR we have played in Olympics, WC, CT and we have favorable H2H everywhere. Even in pro league before this edition we won more than lost against them. Hardly any bilateral.

Most of the stats (outside big tournaments) you see on net are unreliable. Hockey was never as good in keeping stats, cricket had Wisden, later statsguru.

Any hopes of us beating Belgium?

I haven't been following the hockey since the first game - but have our folks improved? Looking at the PC stats looks ominous though. Too many conceded and not enough conversion.
