Last time Priyanka in the women's section excited by leading almost 1/2 of the race - but finished way behind as she obviously couldn't match the pace. No improvement since then to be excited about.

Just the city of Amsterdam has more astroturfs than whole of Indian subcontinent many times over. Netherlands had 600 astroturfs 10 years back, whole of India has around 40 presently. Same with all developed countries. Many of our players transition from grass to astro in their late teens. 

 

GBR invested 7 million USD per medal in Rio. Third world countries can never match that, top-down approach is rarely fruitful. Then the social security system in west.

Sift Kaur Samra was regarded as our best bet before the Games, potential gold medalist. Hope she justifies her number one ranking. Also current world record holder, broke world record twice, latest one last year.

Race was the moment of the Olympics for me so far. With the arena..the atmosphere. Beating the defending champ in the last 50m like that... 

 

Marchand has been touted as the Phelps for these games, interestingly has the same coach as Phelps

Activity in this thread bit less than last time? Think we had more time back then, younger, less responsibilities, WFH, pandemic cloud etc. 

 

Tokyo 2021 was epic fun, in fact that entire period starting from BGT till Olympics was enjoyable for Indian sports fans. 

 

Personally I haven't been able to spend as much time this time. Hope final stretch ends with a bang.

Also from a coverage perspective - I think Sony did a far better job. Jio has sucked till now. Under Sony you could watch events by sports - here it's their choice what they want to show and the coverage has been pretty poor.

600 AstroTurfs in Amsterdam! Where are you getting this? are you counting all the football pitches which also uses AstroTurfs there?

 

We have have low potential ,I don't want to see money being wasted on sports in india.Also being a low iq nation we can't match them on hdi either and sports and recreation is closely linked to it.

Other than Neeraj and one in boxing where else do you see one coming from? Hoping to be positive - but have been very negative about our chances in the last couple of days. Amit losing to that Zambian guy was the last straw
