Along with average it is important to look at SR as well. Bawne and Wadkar have gameplays that was in vogue 10 years back.

To answer your question, only the Khan brothers, Jaiswal, and Rinku Singh, are youngsters that have really dominated in FC cricket with a healthy average and strike rate. The Khans and Jaiswal are likely to go to Australia. Apart from Rinku, Devdutt Padikkal, Tilak Verma, Shivam Dube, Riyan Parag, Abhishek Porel, Dhruv Jurel, and probably Ishan Kishan have good numbers but are work in progress. The second and third rounds of the Trophy will show us their mettle in the longest format. One of them will replace Jadeja when his time comes, and as a KKR fan i would love to see Rinku.

The sad part is none of the youngsters are openers; no one can trust Gill or Gaikwad to open or bat at No 3 after Rohit leaves Tests because of technical issues with the swinging ball. So, we have to try more experienced players there like Jagadeesan, Easwaran, and Gahlaut Rahul Singh.

Selectors picking Pratham Singh instead of Rahul Singh is a tragedy.

Looked for Rahul Singh as well, he has good numbers. Not sure what selectors saw in Pratham.
Other batters like Dhruv Shorey are in their 30's, not much cricket is left in them.

Kunnummal was awesome in 2022-23 and the Deodhar Trophy, but he tapered off a little last Ranji season. Still very young, and I feel someone experienced would partner with Jaiswal at the top. Like, Rohit’s assurance helped Jaiswal reach his debut double hundred. Plus, there are way too many right-handers in contention to open the batting, all of them either play too old school or like Gill and Mayank do well and then taper off. In my view it would be exciting to see two left handers at the top after Rohit finishes, like Australia is experimenting with Travis Head and David Warner at the top.

The  Selection Committee have announced certain changes for the second round of the Duleep Trophy starting from 12th September in Anantapur.

 

India A Captain Shubman Gill, KL Rahul, Dhruv Jurel, Kuldeep Yadav and Akash Deep have been named in India’s Test squad for the series against Bangladesh and will not feature in the upcoming round.

The selectors have named Pratham Singh (Railways) as a replacement for Gill, Akshay Wadkar (Vidarbha CA) as a replacement for KL Rahul and SK Rasheed (Andhra CA) as a replacement for Jurel. Left-arm spinner Shams Mulani will replace Kuldeep in the squad whereas Aaqib Khan (UPCA) will replace Akashdeep in the squad.

Mayank Agarwal has been named as the Captain of India A.

India B’s Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rishabh Pant have been named in India’s squad and the selectors have named Suyash Prabhudessai and Rinku Singh as replacements respectively.

 

Fast bowler Yash Dayal has received his maiden national call-up while Sarfaraz Khan, who too has been named in India’s squad, will feature in the second-round game. Himanshu Mantri (Madhya Pradesh CA) has been added to the squad.

Axar Patel will join Team India from Team D, he will be replaced by Nishant Sindhu (Haryana CA).

 

Tushar Deshpande is ruled out of the second round owing to a niggle and he will be replaced by India A’s Vidwath Kaverappa.

Which means he won't play the first test for sure and probably not the second either

As he is in the squad he should have been with the team.

This team management always make the youngsters feel unwanted and make them believe in the senior culture.
