These projections are 99.99% bakwaas. Reason being, the math to these projections are ALWAYS taken as a static numberof immigrants ( to extrapolate population % over time that are immigrants originally, etc) and those numbers ALWAYS keep going up signiicantly in a 5 year window since the so-called projections came out, throwing all numbers outta whack.Doesnt matter if its UCBerkley or Harvard or PEW doing this. Reality is, almost all immigrant driven metrics are far stronger than projections are, because the intake of immgirants keeps going up, which keeps blowing up a binomial growth rate that is population growth rate.

There's only 1 projection made. By 2070 Christianity ceases to be the majority religion in the US. So you're referring to that?

Your data clear-cut shows tht hinduism will decline as a global % in the next few decades. Also, there is not much pride to be had in just survival, when the goal is to thrive. An ideology isnt worth much if it can only survive. For it to be worth something, it also has to thrive.

So lower fertility rate is about the only reason for decline. How significant is that going to be? The original premise of the thread is extinction. Not seeing any good data to worry about that in the short term. If we are talking 50000 yrs, sure. But no current ideology will have survived that, so it's all moot. But no current ideology will have survived that, so it's all moot. thats called applying old model to new paradigm. 50,000 years is too little time for ideologies to exist in the paradigm, in my view, because i expect most/significant % of ideologies today to exist as long as humans exist, even if it is another 100 million years, because we now have a means of mass propagation & mass storage of information, that even with cataclysmic civilizational failure to a near global extinction event ( such as Lake Toba event for eg) wont necessarily get rid of most of the ideological information we have. I mean if religons like Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, christianity can sustain itself for thousands of years in an era where less than 5% of people were literate and any literary material like a piece of parchment cost as much as half a month of a peasant's salary, then that can be easily increased by a factor of 10-1000 in presence of such mass communication technology that is rather simple to sustain and propagate throughout time.

From Turkey to Indonesia, only place Hinduism is surviving is India. We dont have street power and that will result in the decline faster. Absolute decline in Pak & Bangla will be a testimony to that

First you praise Bible thumpers and now praising the predatory religion that promoted slavery, colonization of the world and they want to convert the last frontier India. As the OP says very soon with believers like you, Hinduism will be well preserved.. in museums like many pagan religions that Christianity devoured.

I just look at results over history and make up my own sweet mind. Oh yes....I care more about poor little kids selling trinkets on the road in India at 10 pm instead of Yudhisthir and Arjun and Bhagavad Gitas recited to them by the powers that be.

Historically ancient Greek and Nordic religions were polytheistic as well. Heck, it was the Roman Empire which crucified Jesus. Once Constantine converted, within a span for decades the entire Roman Empire became Christian. Even before the small island folks came up, we were attacked by Arabs, Uzbeks, who were earlier plundered by Chengiz Kahn (another polytheistic) and his army. But they all converted to monotheistic religion and became part of the raids on India. We were already significantly weaker when the small island army came to power, our last Hindu empire (the Maratha Empire) too was broken into 5 diff parts (Holkar in Indore, Bhonsle in Nagpur, Gaekwad in Gujrat, Peshwa in Satara and Scindia in Gwalior).
