Sarfraz missed out on scoring big in the tests he played and he left the door open for Rahul.

If he had scored a big 100s no one would have dared to drop him.

Sarfaraz looked set for a big 100 in his debut innings but Jadeja ran him out.

After a long time, we have solid top 8 batsman for red ball cricket.
I believe they are the best 8 batsman in the country.

No more Rahane, Pujara, Vihari, Shaw, Mayank.

Rohit
Jaiswsal

Gill

Kohli

Pant (wk)
Rahul
Sarfaraz
Jurel (wk)

And ready replacements.

Easwaran for Rohit

Sai Sudarshan for Kohli

Sai need to add consistency in his game though.
These cute 30's and 40's won't have much impact in the longest format.
In Duleep trophy he only scored 211 of 6 inns (out of which 111 was in one), not even averaging 40. Which shows in his FC numbers.

Easwaran too is 29, can be a stop gap opener for next 3-4 years if he manages to stay fit.

Agree.

Time is on Sai's side though, just 22. Anyway his strongest suit will be ODI cricket IMO.

I know, but other innings he got out. Still they needed to give him chance before bringing Rahul back.

Rahul has done nothing to be picked over a guy like Sarfraz.

What a farce this tournament has been.
Irani Trophy is considered as best of all domestic tournaments, as best of the best are supposed to play this.
But this tournament has failed to generate any interest.

Jurel hasn't got big runs for a long time, needs some before BGT just in case. Aussies prey on underconfident opponents like no other team.

He Will get picked for Shadow A tour as well before the series.

Needs to spend some time at the crease.

Batted well today so far.

That's BS. Karun Nair was dropped after 300. Its only favouritism that matters

He was dropped for next test but was brought back in Australian series where he looked over matched.

He played 6 tests scored one 303 and did not cross 30 again.

He was dropped for a guy like Rahane who at that time had a very decent record, it is not the case here, KL Rahul has played 50 tests and avg 34.

Not only that, he also did not force his way back with compelling or consistently good domestic performances after that. The dropping probably de-motivated him.

Kohli got dropped after WI series, Rohit got dropped so many times.Nair got dropped  but he was given chances in next series.

He cannot blame that dropping as reason for him playing only 6 tests.

Other than Sachin , Gavaskar , Vishy and Kapil Dev, I don't remember players who were not dropped.Kapil got dropped for one test but was brought back.

If tomorrow Jaiswal is sitting out for a test for whatever reason and the opener who plays in his place scores a hundred, do you drop Jaiswal or the new player for the next test.

I have a problem in dropping Sarfraz for guy like Rahul who has been given chance after chance in all formats. Not just that, he has been given chances in every spot in the lineup.

Previous coach Dravid looked like he took the job only to find a spot in the lineup for this guy.I don't think this guy deserves that kind of VIP treatment.

KLR should be nowhere near the team. Sarfaraz has enough and more to take his place long-term. All the fitness issues aside, the guy is a proven performer. It would be a travesty to drop him in favor of KLR. Sarfaraz should be the default #6 with Jurel as his back up for now.

But KL is treated as senior player and has even captained. No way he's gonna be dropped after few knocks
