Umpiring Blunders log

Paul Reiffel has no business giving Ashwin out on an Umpires call decision when the ball hit above knew roll and was going down leg.

The thing is that SENA umpires are usually very cunning, especially the Aussie ones.

They pick and choose when to give an unfair decision, they will make an unfair call when India is making an important partnership and then will balance it out by doing the same against Aus but that will be when that wicket is not crucial.

This way they are able to show themselves as fair umpires.

Nice theory, not totally disagree with that but then why is nepo baby Shah heading the ICC?

No one can do anything in this case bro.

No one will be able to prove them guilty.

Their modus operandi is flawless.

Yup. There's a reason why decisions in high profile matches or knockouts such as marginal LBW calls in 2019 WC SF go against us. And the opponents get the benefit of doubt such as Labuchagne's LBW not given in 2023 WC final.

The only way this can be fixed is to get away from "umpire's call" system just like they did away with the original decision for a catch on the field referral. As long as even 15-20% of the ball is hitting the stumps, make it OUT. That way the same event has the same consistent outcome, and doesn't have umpire's bias (umpire's call) impact the outcome. Enough of umpiring call going against us consistently at crucial stages.

Yes the basis should now move to 25 percent rather than 50 percent hitting. Issue is we might fold for 26 then in seamimg trentbridge

It'll be same for both the sides. Much better than one side getting the rub of the green thanks to umpires.

Is it me or whenever Indian batsmen have a 50/50 lbw the finger goes up straight away, whereas when India is bowling they never get it. India has make sure the lbw are plumb.

You're not mistaken. Most of the other nations hate India and Indian cricket. They've no choice but to bow down as India bankrolls intl cricket but  they take pleasure whenever India struggles and are biased against India, which is true for umpiring as well.

Do you recall WT20 final and how happy most of the non-Indian commies and media members were when India lost those early wkts and when Klassen had nearly won the match? Check out some reports from Indian media members/reporters who traveled to WI and you'll see how over the moon rest of media members were when India was struggling. It was almost like India vs Rest of the World. The same sentiment and biases comes in during umpiring.

Yes I really despise these non Indian YouTubers/media who acquire the TV rights of Indian cricket team only to see them lose. Disgusting to say the least, whatever you may feel about bcci wealth, the actual Indian cricketers have got to their position through their hard work and talent. The more disgusting thing their viewership is built on the Indian and Indian Diaspora population.

Also the double standards, Pakistan just played on a used pitch, they say oh good for cricket. India plays on turners oh evil bcci, doctored pitches blah blah.

They are all wishing for India to lose tomorrow so they can build a narrative they can’t play seaming, bouncing conditions. Let be honest the pitch was difficult to play in the 1st session, last thing you are expecting on an Indian wicket. It was an aberration, a bad day at the office.

Lets see if Pakistan gets demerit points for both the pitches, no news so far, 1st was the flattest pitch ever 2nd was a turner. If it was India it will start dissing out stadium bans etc.

The double standards are glaringly obvious, it is definitely India Vs rest of the world.

In the world of DRS, whatever you wrote makes no sense.

Even if true, we from subcontinent need to come out of this I-am-oppressed mentality

This is very difficult to say, we as Indian fans can also be biased when looking at these. I wish there are some stats on how many of these umpires calls or would have been umpires calls goes against us vs for us.

if I was BCCI with all those millions in the bank, I would be crunching those numbers.

I am not opressed, no one has the Aukaad to make me opresses.

What I have said is true and has actually been called out before.

Michael Gough didn't give a straightforward decision as out. Bowled by Bumrah to Devon Conway. It was a Plumb LBW.

This was a howler.

Don't know why Gough is rated so highly. Seen so many poor decisions from him over the years.

if you are not oppressed then take poor umpiring decisions on the chin and hope our team doesn't waste reviews like we did on 4th days evening when real time it was evident ball was pitched outside leg.

Today in an incident where there was a loud edge off the bowling of Arundati reddy. Umpire didn't give for some reason. They go for review. As soon as they go for review. Australian player walked lol They continued with the review anyway.

Another umpire's call going against us at a crucial moment. Labuschagne looked out against Siraj and umpire's call saved him. If he had been dismissed at the time we probably chase a total of 240 and favorites to win the Test. Now watch the umps give those umpire's call against us when we bat.

Time for BCCI to push for doing away with Umpire's call coz we'll continue to get the short end of the stick time and again just like we do in Hockey.
