That was after we complained that the Kanpur pitch where they survived by 1 wicket was too slow. They came prepared this time - plus their SL series was a calculated plan to prepare for the Indian series. I can't get over the fact that they did not have Santner for this test and it did not matter. If India had not had Sundar for this match, everyone would be jumping up and down shouting "Sundar was injured" starting with that Gavaskar to everyone on this board. The fact that Santner was injured and not available was an incredible stroke of good luck for India but it has been swept under the carpet as no big deal. Ask any Kiwi fan and they would have told you he is a bum who has no business playing test cricket before this series let alone against India in India. Sundar wasn't even in any conversation after the Bang series when people were still singing eulogies to Ashwin and Jadeja who they believed were good for 3 more years, never mind that he will be our best bowler by far in this series. Lot of unforeseen events came to pass... AKane 1

Some balls would rag like a rank turner. Some would just go on straight. (Not talking about natural variations). Even the bounce was inconsistent. Sometimes behaved like a Mumbai pitch..sometimes not. Pitch wasnt quick. Was relatively slow for a Mumbai pitch. Defo much tougher than a regular turner. But a pure rank turner would rag consistently once the turn starts. Just wondering how to classify this pitch.
urbestfriend Posted November 5, 2024 Author Posted November 5, 2024 Apparently team management requested Rank turner.
urbestfriend Posted November 5, 2024 Author Posted November 5, 2024 Now senior players are doing some PR by blaming GG , and the rift started. https://www.mykhel.com/cricket/ind-vs-nz-gautam-gambhir-went-against-india-players-for-spin-friendly-track-in-mumbai-318027.html But it hurts to see too much effort going on preparing custom pitches instead of focusing on actual sports. express bowling Posted November 6, 2024 Posted November 6, 2024 When you have to micro-manage pitches so much then the problem is not the pitches but the players. Vk1, tapandrun, Frustrated and 2 others 3 2

Vk1 Posted November 7, 2024 Posted November 7, 2024 Our batsmen have developed this strange habit - play everything on front foot - strange coz dravid was known for his square cuts. Back foot play though looks risky is a must on Rank turners
